Do not try and resist.

It is useless.

The blessing seems short to me, but I'll let you make the call. Here goes:

Some hae meat wha canna eat
And some would eat that want it
But we hae meat and we can eat
Sae let the Lord be Thankit. ~Robert Burns

This blessing has hung on my grandmother's dining room wall for as long as I can remember. I distinctly remember my mother explaining to me the meaning of "want" (lack) in the blessing because I couldn't figure it out, at the time.

It'd be nice to have it in Scottish Gaelic, but if you can't do it, don't fash yourself over it.

Sorry to hear about the foot. Gotta take care of the peds. My feet have been in a minor Heaven since I discovered Dr. Sholl's brand tennis shoes. "Gellin' like a felon".

Yep. Had my one-on-one with one of the onsight personal trainers. We got to talking. He quickly figured out that I knew everything he did and was clear on what my short and long term goals are. After that, we chatted a bit about techniques, supplements, nutrion, ect...

Then I went and hit the weights. A little stiff from yesterday, but not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I did work my lats a lot more than I thought I did. The machine I used pulls your elbows through an outside arc instead of straight down like most lat machines do. Really hits that outer sweep of the lat. Amazing machine really. I'm looking forward to really hitting that thing heavy as some point in the future. Pump those lats out until it looks like I have wings. ;-)

Did some military press, leg press, some ab work, and called it a day. Oh yeah... I did a 15 minute warm up on the eliptical too.

This weekend, I sit down with my various books and work up a 1-Month routine. Plot out the exercises, repetitions, approx weight targets, ect... See how that goes and modify it in a month.

I wouldn't want you to have the burden of rhyming it, too. I doubt that it could be translated and still rhyme.

Sounds like you are well on your way. My plans for walking are scuttled until the foot calms down. And, then there's the vacation to visit Prout and attendant relations. I refuse to work out unduly when on vacation. So, I guess that I'll make plans for December. *sigh*

That sounds wonderful! It's been years since I had the opportunity to lift weights, other than babies, but I loved it when I did.

Pretty good. I realized it's a Federal holiday, so I sent the more irritating children out to play, and the rest of us are painting pumpkins and birdhouses.

My back is starting to hurt, though, so I may declare "5 o'clock Somewhere" and have a glass of wine soon!

Oh, boy, is it ever rusty! I'm not guaranteeing the grammar...

Tha feadhainn feòil aca; cha foad iad ithe
Agus iarraidh feadhainn; chan eil feòil aca
Ach tha feòil againn agus faod sinn ithe
Mar sin taing An Tighearna!

For an American you'd say it thus: ("ch" is as in German, or Scots "loch", "CH" as in English "ch", "E" is how you pronounce the letter 'E' but don't emphasize it, emphasis indicated by apostrophe):

"ha fay'yEnn fE'ooil ak'ha; cha fuud' E'at E'hya
ah'goose yar'rE fay'yEnn; chahn yell' fE'ooil akha
ach' ha fE'ooil ahk'Enn ah'goose fuud' shinn E'hya
mar shin taink' ahn CHEr'na!

("feòil", meat or flesh, is a little difficult to render)

You have 7 weeks left, give or take?

I'd offer advice, but you've done this 4 times more than I have, so I don't quite know what to say, other than I hope your back feels better soon.

I recommend weightlifting to anyone and everyone. Just 'cause you lift doesn't mean you wannabe a muscle-bound freakazoids. Resistance training coupled with mild calesthenics or other aerobic exercise not only helps with bone and muscle density, it can actually be easier on your joints than straight cardio workouts.

I finally ran out of excuses. To "make time" to work out, I get up an hour early and am trying to get ot be a bit earlier.

10 weeks, give or take. I could go lie down, but I'm afraid to leave the kids on the loose with paint!

Sorry to hear about your foot.

Looks like he gets his grammer from here!

...and here he claims to like Bruce Springsteeeen.

He seems to be almost as hard headed in his posting style as me, but reviving a long dead thread to start trouble is rarely a good idea.

I'm all for lying down. Any chance of setting the little ones down with a movie while you get some rest?
