Ive just received a credible tip from an LGF reader that an America West flight out of New York was fired upon by a surface to air missile yesterday, and that the pilot and passengers witnessed it and are now being questioned by the FAA and FBI.
Thats the extent of the information I currently have, and please note: right now this is completely unverified.
And when it backfires, and the people are clamoring for advice from the government on what to do...we are instructed to purchase plastic tarps and duct tape.
No way do the powers-that-be want the public in an outrage or panic.

Many in the FAA and NTSB has come forward and wrote a book about the lies. I can't recall the title, but some quite interesting (STRANGE) spin has been occurring.

Don't feel bad, same thing happened to me and it's a few hours later here in the midwest ... definitely time to turn off the PC.
Article says the flight took off at 6:05 PM, but playback of traffic from JFK shows it taking off about 6:40. Of course that would be about par for the course if scheduled TO was 6:05. The playback does show one rather odd, two segment, turn to fly toward Philedelphia, which it skirted to the north.
That's ok.

The sun is setting around 7:00 in New York these days. The LiveATC.net radar shows that there were some heavy showers over parts of South Jersey, upstate New York, and east of Long Island at 7PM, but nothing near JFK.

Check about 6:40, that shows an American West flight, with last two digits "17" departing to the south, making a two segment turn to the west, and then skirting to the north of Philadelphia.
Some reports mentioned JFK- how is the local geography there- ocean waters?

Could you please explain to me the reasons that this manpad must come down on land? You might want to look at a map of JFK airport first.
I'll be shocked if it was anything larger than a SMAW.
