Has Anyone considered why Governor Blanco refused to act?

Posted on 09/06/2005 7:13:03 PM PDT by Reagangan1

I've been thinking about this: Has anyone considered that, maybe, Governor Blanco DELIBERATELY delayed acting because she knew she would create a human trajedy she could then blame on the President? The Mayor may be in on it too, but I can't believe that the governor of a state, faced with images of desperate people in New Orleans on TV, wouldn't have picked up the phone and BEGGED the President to move the ENTIRE military to her state/cities.

I mean, think about it: These people had been trying to "get" President Bush for years! The Jersey Girls (9-11 widows) didn't work, their sabotage of the Iraq war wasn't working, Cindy Sheehan didn't work. So maybe they figures "let's create a human disaster and trajedy on purpose, and blame Bush for it".

They knew their friends in the liberal mainstream media would only be too happy to give them "cover" and blame Bush ENTIRELY for the whole thing. So who cares if a few "black people" go without food and water for a few days?

The potential "upside" (from their point of view) would be HUGE! They could FINALLY "get" George Bush! They could call for INVESTIGATIONS! They could call for IMPEACHMENT! They could accuse Bush of "hating black people".

It's no secret that the GOP had been making outreach efforts to black people, and they were actually making progress. So (from their perspective) why not "kill two birds with one stone"? Why not make it IMPOSSIBLE for the GOP to make inroads with black people, and why not try and mortally wound President Bush.

They figured the "worst" that could happen is that their Governor and Mayor would be called "incompetent". But George Bush would be pilloried with charges of being "insensitive", a "murderer", etc.

Really. Just find a quiet place and THINK ABOUT IT for a minute or 2.

The people had been in the Superdome since SATURDAY NIGHT, and Blanco didn't even declare a state of Emergency until Wednesday! She fought efforts to have the feds come in until THURSDAY when she finally requested formal FEMA aid.

On early FRIDAY morning, federal troops STORMED into the city, and by late Friday were well on their way to turning the situation around. By Saturday afternoon, they had pretty much evacuated everyone from the convention center and had begun rescue/recovery efforts in the rest of the city.

Really. THINK ABOUT IT. Why would Governor Blanco WAIT so long? Maybe she saw all the misery that was being portrayed on TV and figured "we can blame this on Bush and ruin him!" So she waited and refused to let the feds come in. The mainstream media were ALREADY blaming Bush on Tuesday night (the levees broke on Tuesday at noon), when on Tuesday morning they were saying New Orleans had "dodged a bullet". I'm thinking someone in the media was tipped off that they were going to try and "get bush" and they were only too happy to help.

If you really sit down and THINK about it, I think you will come up with the same conclusion I am leaning towards:

President Bush was "set up" by Governor Blanco (and possibly Mayor Nagin), who used the poor people of New Orleans as pawns in a cynical, deadly game of POLITICAL-DEATH-ROULETTE.

Seriously. Think about it. Just find a quiet place and think about it.

She wanted time to pad the voting records: "Let's see, make it about 10,000 dead, that oughtta do it. Gives us about 5000 more people than there were, but Hillary'll be happy."

Seriously: I think that due to party affliations she did not want to acknowledge that George W. Bush was President and that she should actually take orders from him. Her hatred & disrespect was seeping from her pores.

Also, I think she was busy in Baton Rouge overseeing the shredding of documents...excuse me, evidence

From the moment I read that a prior clinton adm employee, that being one james witt, had been advising blanco, I had the thought that the delay was because many dems know that along with a federal takeover, comes a many sided can of worms.

That preparations, evacuation procedures, and, in their case, FEDERAL MONIES, past and present, allocated to NO and its levee system, would be investigated.

So I did not think it was to make our President look like a willing killer of Black people in our nation, but rather I thought it was to keep the feds out of their house of corruption.

I still kinda think that way.

Because WHENEVER the liberal politicos jump the gun, calling for investigations, etc., what they REALLY want is to cover-up, via directing, narrowing, and controlling any investigations by being out in front.

For instance, Hillary wants an investigation, not because she cares about Blacks (we all know what she and bill used to call them in Arkansas), but because she wants the major, MAJOR, MAJOR face time and directional input. After all... this pig wants to pollute our WH with her trailer trash tribe, once again. Getting on such an investigation (or commission as she calls it, oh GAG me with a spoon!) would give her hours of face time on TV and hundreds if not thousands of mentions in newspapers.

Your thinking is really devious. I mean down right nasty. Scary, too. So, knowing liberals, you could be right.

Careful there Madison: You wouldn't want to get "censored" by all these "outraged, feeling-surreal" people who don't have the mental agility to think about an -- admittedly "out there" -- theory. :-P ...

Great points! You know, sometimes when you think about the VICIOUS left in those terms you are tempted to think "Naaa. These people on the left wouldn't be THAT vicious, they wouldn't be capable of THAT. would they? uh, would they? :-O ...

Yeah, I know, but somehow it must have seemed to her that no storm would be bad enough to let Bush take credit for saving New Orleans.

OK, Dude (or is it Dud)...not because of premeditation. But because NO is corrupt and inept. The Mayor and the Governor are not bright enough to see trouble when it is knocking at their door. They are Democrats (they have a disease of perception). They see life through a milky lens.

The Democratic party is, without a doubt, incapable of seeing life clearly. They are dishonest and they are without values.

But to assume they would murder thousands of people (maybe tens of thousands) to simply smear the President...

That demonstrates a lack of understanding of the psychosis of evil...that indicates a childlike, broad brush smearing of the enemy.

If we are to win, we must identify the enemy clearly...we must be honest in our description and definition or our enemy.

The only problem with this theory is that the only black people that would fall for it would have to be REALLY stupid.

This lady appears to be not only inexperienced but also incompetent. I have to believe she is being manipulated and used by the Democrat party to drag her feet so they can blame Bush. I think since she doesn't have a clue, she was happy to do what she was told to do. Reminds me of how the Democrats have written speeches and sent semi-senile Byrd of WV to the senate floor to attack Bush and to say things that none of the rest of them who might have a race for their seat have the courage to deliver. Because of what they've gotten him to do, his completely guaranteed locked up senate seat would be in jeopardy if he had a decent well-funded Republican opponent.

However, two of the questions deserve further explanation:

1. Why no police at the Superdome?
2. Why no food/water at the Superdome?

The answer to that question illustrates the monumental degree of incompetence.

Why wasn't the Superdome supplied with food/water supplies earmaked for it?

Why weren't Police deployed to the Superdome in accordance to a pre-disaster plan?

Why?

That was exactly my point in coming up with the -- admittedly "out there" -- theory.

1. Why no police at the superdome?
2. Why no food and water at the superdome?

They could SEE with their own eyes the misery in the Superdome. The repoters were telling them (espeically on Wednesday BEFORE Blanco declared an "emergency") that PEOPLE WERE DYING inside the Superdome. There were reports that a man had raped a 7 year old girl and had been subsequently beaten to death in an act of vigilante justice. There reports of multiple rapes, beatings, robbings, and worse.

And through this, the Governor (and maybe the Mayor) didn't feel the need to send even a FEW police over to the Superdome? I mean, I saw "car 54, where are you?", but this is ridiculous! Now, my -- admittedly "out there" -- theory posits: What if it wasn't just "monumental incompetence"? What if it was a DELIBERATE REFUSAL TO RESPOND because these people were being shown live on national (and world-wide TV) and the MSM was blaming Bush (not them) for it? If the theory is true, maybe someone said "Let's just wait a while, and let it get a little worse, and let Bush keep getting blamed for this."

You need to re-READ the original post CAREFULLY. The original -- admittedly "out there" -- theory, says nothing about "murders". It simply posits that Blanco (and Maybe Nagin) saw a poltiical opportunity and felt that keeping food and water for a couple of days from people wouldn't "kill them", but it would sure hurt Bush.

1. Why no police at the Superdome?
[first responders were also victims?]

2. Why no food/water at the Superdome?
[lack of planning and disregard for evac plan]

3. Why no authority to National Guard to assist police in peacekeeping?
[Ask Gov. Blanco]

4. Why wait until Wed to declare an "emergency" when the levees broke on Tuesday AT NOON, and the city was 80% underwater by Tuesday evenihg?
[Ask Nagin and Blanco]

5. Why wait until Thursday to formally ask FEMA to come in?
[Ask Blanco]

Ah, yes, but we are dealing with LEFTISTS. "Incompetence" and "malice" are not necessarily mutually exclusive with them.

As a matter of fact, with today's rabid, hate-filled left, I would rather say that they go HAND-IN-HAND.

INCOMPETENCE AND MALICE ? ...

Doesn't that pretty much sum up the radical left these days?

The "ask Blanco and Nagin" part will be covered I assure you. Reference quesitons one and 2, they may have applied at the START (first 24 hours) of the disaster, but what about the 3 days that followed?

Blanco and Nagin NEVER got food and water to the Superdome or got police there, even though police were patrolling other parts of the city.

Now, why would the NO police department be patrolling against looters, but they couldn't go to the Superdome to stop rapes, robberies, and murders?

And Governor Blanco's (admittedly non "deputized" National Guard) coudln't get even a "little bit" of food to the Superdome?

I am afraid that these questions reveal something much more than "gross incompetence". Perhaps, they reveal something much more dark and sinister.

This is my last post on this thread...I read your original post correctly...I even reread it as you requested.

Same crap...there is no doubt that Nagin and Blanco are negligent, actually incompetent. But to make the leap to criminal intent...that demonstrates a naivete that does not merit comment.

You obviously are not a student of history or psychology (of human behavior). And you obviously would rather defend your point of view than seek the truth.

Do as you wish...but don't expect to gain an intelligent following.

You are obviously not at FR to learn but to propound pre-existing ideas (however false).

Ok, if you "read" and "re-read" my original post, then you realize that your ORIGINAL hyperbolic comment about "murders of thousands of people" was incorrect. It's not MY FAULT you can't read. Now why you are getting all upset over an -- admittedly "out there" -- theory is quite beyond me. RATIONAL, INTELLIGENT people can actually think and discuss things like this without getting all upset like you are.

Why don't you just get a good night's sleep, and all will be well in the morning, K? Great.

Your subconscious apology for misreading my original post is "accepted".
