I dunno. You have a very good point, such speculation does lay the word 'EVIL' all over blanco and landrieau and that could be very unfair.

However, flip side, their remarks and horrific accusations since the tragedy, give one pause.

I would not hesitate to lay the word evil on their public remarks. Not for even one nanosecond.

If they hoped the storm would do little damage, as history always unfolded for NO, THAT IS EVIL. That is total lack of protection for their most vulnerable.

If they DID hope the federal government would simply DO IT ALL, then why did blanco REFUSE to call for emergency preparations at the federal level BEFORE Katrina hit, like the neighboring governors in Katrina's path did.

Certainly, you do not hear complaints coming from those states.

If, as you suggest, it was simply done out of incompetence, then these people should be removed from office, since their incompetence ( prior to the storm and afterwards) resulted in a disaster death, hunger, thirst, loss of family pets, loss of hospitalized and nursing home residents and engaged our entire nation in an immense financial debt.
