Yesterday I watched Food TV. Emeril had the winners of his Italian cuisine contest on. Wow! There were some yummy dishes on there. One I need to make next week is a dish called Chicken Meatball Soup. Wine lovers will love it because you can use wine liberally in this dish.
There is a newsletter I would like to recommend. I have subscribed to it for years. It's called Real Food for Real People. You can take a look at the site for it at http://www.realfood4realpeople.com
Street behavior? She's from upstate New York. I like her. Yes, she's hyper but that's part of her charm. She's not a food snob. Hence the popularity of all her shows/cookbooks.
We used to think that, too, still do, but then some people are just that slow, and that's who he needs to teach. We love Alton and Giada. I've tried some of her recipes and Rachael Ray's too. Yum. And we can't forget about Julia Child. I really learned a lot from (before I had cable) from Julia Child and PBS. Nowadays PBS is all lefty and maybe it was then, too, but I got the basics from Julia. And her recent cookbooks are good, too. She 'demystified' French cooking and made cooking in general more accesible, after the years of instant and fast food supposedly 'liberating' us in the 50's, 60's & 70's.
Julia and her husband Paul circa 1988. What a lady!
I can't watch her show. She inspires such impure thoughts in me that I have to change the channel, lest I'm totally overcome with lust.
Her dance hall girl act it over the top for me. A little more refinement would be good. After all, not every statement or fact is the 7th wonder of the world or the finding of the Holy Grail. She needs to get a grip
Venture up to the Garden District and eat at Pascal Manale's. Their Barbequed Shrimp is to die for.
Also Sunday brunch al fresco at The Courtyard Of The Two Sisters in the French Qtr.
I << heart >> Alton Brown. He's taught me so much about why you do the things you do when you cook. (Folks who watch him will understand that sentence. As for the rest of you, well, just trust me - it makes sense.)
(Emeril's food sure does look tasty, though!)
Sorry, no recipe for chicken creole sausage -- but I wish I had.
On that same subject, however, I was trying to find a reputable mail-order source for some boudan. A couple from Houston got us addicted years ago, and we'd like to split an order with them.
And, for the record: LOVE Emeril, Alton, and Bobby Flay.
I also LOVE "Food Finds!" Expensive, but I give most of the stuff as gifts.
Also, is it just a guilty pleasure for me, or does anyone else love those contests they have where they have to move these enormous, fragile food sculptures over onto a counter?
Last thing: I hate Rachel's voice -- I can't stand to watch it for any length of time. Paula Deen needs to realize the era of the Southern Belle has passed her by. And how many times do we have to watch her get married to Kenny Rogers? Sheesh.
One last thing, Gypsy -- can you add me to your ping list? THANX!!
