The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XXI~
June 26, 2005 | bentfeather/Poets of the Lair

Posted on 06/25/2005 9:22:33 PM PDT by Soaring Feather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Night in Your Garden

Soft, I see the glow of marsh gas spirits brave,
now aimless drifting on an ebon eve so free.
As the breeze does kiss so tender soft,
and I am lost in the depth of retrospection.

The reeds along the pond shore wave,
like rhythmic waves upon a dark sea.
Night bird song does so gently waft,
transporting one willing to seek adaptation.

The stars beg to be counted, memories to save,
and I am so willing to be just let the world be.
My spirit floats free, released to go aloft,
and I relax here in your garden, a soul’s bastion.

I wrote this poem yesterday. I tried to post it last night, but something came along and I did not get it on the board. It's not wordy, but thought it a little ironic we both wrote about a garden.

My story tells of love
in an old garden
blooming
opening a window to my soul.

"thought it a little ironic we both wrote about a garden."

Great Minds, Same Garden?

Actually, gardens are place in which the mind can lift to new heights, and hear wind song, and wings buzz, setting ideas free.

Good evening Ms. Feather.

A Career
by Paul Laurence Dunbar

Break me my bounds, and let me fly
To regions vast of boundless sky;
Nor I, like piteous Daphne, be
Root-bound. Ah, no! I would be free
As yon same bird that in its flight
Outstrips the range of mortal sight;
Free as the mountain streams that gush
From bubbling springs, and downward rush
Across the serrate mountain's side,
The rocks o'erwhelmed, their banks defied,
And like the passions in the soul,
Swell into torrents as they roll.
Oh, circumscribe me not by rules
That serve to lead the minds of fools!
But give me pow'r to work my will,
And at my deeds the world shall thrill.
My words shall rouse the slumb'ring zest
That hardly stirs in manhood's breast;
And as the sun feeds lesser lights,
As planets have their satellites,
So round about me will I bind
The men who prize a master mind.

Good evening, ms. marlowe.

Thank You.

Lovely song. Isn't it amazing how mystical Ireland is?? I for one am captivated by the music, the lore, the history and the poetry.
