Hi I am conservative young man who has problem. My wife of few years wants a divorce. As conservative I want to keep strong the family values but I guess divorce is ok because many of us conservative get divorced like Rush (3 times now.) and who can forget Newt serving divorce papers to his wife as she sick with cancer.

So I guess divorce is ok but gay marriage destroys the institution of marriage and must be fought against. How is it that when Jesus tells us not to get divorces we conservatives go ahead and get them anyways but when gays want to get married we say we can’t allow it because God hates them.

Yet does he not hate divorces and people who get divorces over and over again? How is gay marriage bad and destructive to marriage but over when we conservatives get a divorce nobody even bats an eye. Are we then hypocrites?

Divorce that ends marriage is good, just as Rush but gay marriage is bad. Are we not supposed to follow all of God’s commands and not just selective ones? Have we already destroyed the sanctity of marriage by allowing divorces? I think so.

So I guess we conservatives should come out against divorce and make it a law that divorce is against the commands of God and we should have a law against it just like gay marriage.

Thank you. And I will not get a divorce because I don’t want to be a hypocrite conservative even thought it is hard.

Good luck to all fighting the good conservative fight against the gay menace coming to get our children. And don’t forget to keep on divorcing each other; I’m sure God is ok with it because as we all know God is a conservative republican and our President Bush talks to him, just like Moses on Mount Sinai.

Divorce is wrong. Gay marriage is wrong. One is allowed in some circumstances, the other is an abomination.

Should we discourage divorce? Yes. Absolutely.

But re-defining marriage just because there are some who desecrate it is not the solution.

I do believe both divorce and homosexual marriage is wrong, although in the case of the former, it is sadly needed in some cases. I know myself, my parents divorced when I was 10 and believe me, whether it is warranted or not, it hurts everyone although there are times where the hurt is worse if there is no divorce. That being said, divorce should not be easily obtained except in very extreme cases such as if one spouse is a habitual abuser who will not repent, threat of death to the other spouse and children, and so on. No fault divorce has really hurt us morally. As to comparing homosexual marriage to divorce, it is like comparing apples to oranges.
