LOL, cats... Fluffy has taken over our family by being both bossy and demanding.

I wasn't going to allow her on the couch, but my husband has her on it every night, playing with her

That will teach me to not go back and read the thread before posting a link. Well, it's an important story, and I've already sent it out in to my email list imploring them to forward it to everybody they know.

Time for some comic relief.

Subject: A cute joke that kind of explains everything.

On the first day God created the dog. God said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. I will give you a life span of twenty years,"

The dog said, "That's too long to be barking. Give me ten years and I'll give you back the other ten." So God agreed.

On the second day God created the monkey. God said, "Entertain people, do monkey tricks, make them laugh. I'll give you a twenty-year life span."

The monkey said, "How boring, monkey tricks for twenty years?
I don't think so. Dog gave you back ten, so that's what I'll do too, okay?" And God agreed.

On the third day God created the cow. God said, "You must go to the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer. I will give you a life span of sixty years."

The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. Let me have twenty and I'll give back the other forty." And God agreed again.

On the forth day God created man. God said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. I'll give you twenty years."

Man said, "What? Only twenty years! Tell you what, I'll take my twenty, and the forty the cow gave back and the ten the monkey gave back and the ten the dog gave back, that makes eighty, okay?"

"Okay," said God, "You've got a deal."

So that is why the first twenty years we eat, sleep, play, and enjoy ourselves; for the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family; for the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren; and for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained

Is anyone listening to Mort Kondracke on FNC? He's telling a story from that Mom's against Bush person about how Bolton intimidated her and banged on her hotel door. It just doesn't sound believable, unless Bolton is unstable, which I don't believe he is.

IDLE = no misspelling but an intentional use of this word.

I read that story earlier and noted that there were little to no details that might have prompted any such action like knocking on her hotel door YEARS ago.

The sillier and more biased the person making the charges, the more the Democrats will believe it. LOL

Good morning Peach. Looks like today's thread isn't in the right place in the Sidebars...I'm pretty sure I clicked the right "Daily" when I posted. OH well. lysie will do better tomorrow!

Someone, on another thread I just posted, posted a horrible pic to me...the moderator removed it, but it was still in My Comments a few minutes ago, and it has distressed me greatly...

Back later.

Oh, dear. I read that some of our minority members have been getting really ugly pictures posted to them. They are removed pretty quickly but it's distressing nonetheless.

I don't know if this is the kind of picture Molly is referencing, but this thread describes a recent problem. T
The posts of freepers getting these pictures gives a more clear picture.

My great-uncle Floyd who is 88 emailed this to me.

Subject: Getting Old

The other day a young person asked me how I felt about being old.
I was taken aback, for I do not think of myself as old. Upon seeing my reaction, she was immediately embarrassed, but I explained that it was an interesting question, and I would ponder it, and let her know.

Old age, I decided, is a gift. I am now, probably for the first time in my life, the person I have always wanted to be. Oh, not my body! I sometime despair over my body-the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, skin spots and bumps, and the sagging butt. And often I am taken aback by that old person that lives in my mirror, but I don't agonize over those
things for long.

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become more kind to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or
for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement fountain that I didn't need, but looks so avant garde on my patio.

I am entitled to overeat, to be messy, to be extravagant. I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read until 4 AM, and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 70's, and if I at the same time wish to weep over a lost love, I will. I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging
body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the bikini set. They, too, will get old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten -- and I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when a beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turn gray or even lost forever, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched
into deep groove on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver. I can say "no," and mean it. I can say "yes," and mean it. As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think.
I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be.

And I shall eat dessert every single day.

Those are very pretty. UG, it's always good to have a "few" projects going at the same time. It keeps us from having to do nothing. haha
