Did you find your lock / unlock / alarm thingy yet?

You live in a lovely neighborhood. Looks very hilly.

Old Southern homes often had an outside door for each room, to escape fire and for cool breezes on summer nights. My guess is that the middle was originally a dog trot but got converted as the family grew. I need to really take some time and study the house.

   FEBRUARY

February is small in days
It almost slips beneath the door
And yet stands out in many ways
It gave us men who we adore

Washington the first of men
To hearken to his countries call
General of the army then
First President to lead us all

Lincoln, not a lion's roar
Nor a handsome man to see
Yet led us through a Civil War
Believing that all men were free

So February, you stand tall
You are a blessing from above
Let no man say that you are small
You gave us two great men to love

I just sent the pic to my uncle. He has done our ancestry research, and I asked if he had tree info he could send me.

OK. I think the center door was a dog trot. If I got out and inspected I could be sure.

Breeze way between two halves of a house. Watch "The Yearling' and you'll see. Mostly southern thing pre-20th Century.

I think I've seen at least one of those in "Missouri Town", a reconstructed town by the parks dept. They take old homes down, number the boards, etc, and put them back together on designated parks land. They are furnished and open for the public. Volunteers staff them in period clothes at different times and tell about life during of that time.
