KLOL, 101.1 FM announced Friday that station has changed formats. The station switched from a classic rock format to a Latino music format branded as Mega 101.
KLOL is now branded as Mega 101 FM. The station's web site was listed as under construction, but KLOL's former morning show hosts Walton and Johnson announced on their web site that they were informed Thursday night of the change.
The radio hosts stated on WaltonandJohnson.com that, "Thursday night Walton and Johnson were informed by lower-level management sources via a last-minute phone call that there would be no Walton and Johnson Show tomorrow. In it's place would be Hispanic music programs."

Are you old enough to remember when KRBE, "The Key to radio Broadcasting Excellence" was all classical?
They had some great announcers too, Eamon Grant, Ray Landers, Anthony Rahe, among others.

I guess I'm not
that old, or else I was not into classical then. I started getting into classical in the mid-70's, and KLEF was the only classical channel in town. KRBE (I never knew that KRBE was an acronym) was heavy into top-40 in those days.
KLEF really helped me get into classical music. They printed a program guide listing everything they were playing for the month, including the orchestra and conductor. It helped me learn composers and conductors and helped me know what to buy at the "record" stores.
Also in those days, Cactus Records was THE classical shop, and they had all their records in the order of the Schwann catalog, so you had to look it up in the catalog, write down its #, then go find the record. Classical was very pompous in those days.
To: Sans-Culotte
Hehehe. It sounds like you really got into classical not long after KRBE made the switch to rock.
Ray Landers was program director at KRBE, then went to KLEF, continuing his masterful work with the printed program guide.
I often wonder what happened to him and the others.

........I am WOMAN !http://www.popculturemadness.com/Music/Lyrics/I-Am-Woman.html
I Am Woman
Sung by: Helen Reddy
Written By: Helen Reddy and Ray Burton
I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again
(CHORUS: )
Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
You can bend but never break me
'cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul
(CHORUS: )
I am woman watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin' arms across the land
But I'm still an embryo
With a long long way to go
Until I make my brother understand
Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
(Fade)
I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman

Does it really pay? Or is it just PC?It pays. There are so few Spanish language stations as compared to English language stations, that the listener loyalty is in orbit somewhere, and the advertisers, knowing this, pay through the nose.
An Atlanta (Cheap Channel-owned) FM station floundered for years through a succession of formats, until it hit on a Spanish language format late this past summer. Now, as Viva 105.3, the station has jumped from obscurity to number 5 in the market -- in one ratings period.

My goodness you seem to have troubles with your shift key. Now turn your rant dial down a few notches and perhaps you'll not only interact better here, you might even learn something. Otherwise you'll get burnt.
You really don't want to get the kitties aroused this early in the morning.
