A Tear For A Rose
The first of the roses was Melanie's though they bloomed
All Summer long.
Don't cut it she said, let it see the light and feel the dew
Of a warm and April night.
But I longed to give her the gift of Spring so eloquent in the
Rose's first bloom.
So I severed the flower from it's nourishing stalk
Deprived the world of the first perfect rose
Took it inside to give to my love
Touched and saddened she cried
A tear for a rose.

Something's Gone
The color of the liver might tell the doctor
What killed the baby.
The sleepy look when his soul passed
To hands more skilled.
Nearly crossed my face and Mama cried
Oh doctor please
Don't let my baby die
Like he was God or something.
Doctor, God or something.
Something's gone.
For Dr. Charles E. Holloway on his passing 7/12/95
He saved my life when I was eighteen months old.

Tube Top
Tube top has a certain charm,
Calculated to disarm,
One has pictures in the mind,
Of a most outrageous kind.
Rest assured its not that way,
The tube I had in mind today,
Is not the snazzy fashion trend,
Instead I thought of Popeyes friend.

Amy, you just brought tears to my eyes with that rendition and graphic. That's one of the nicest things anyone's done for me in a long time. Thanks.

Thank you ... I enjoy finding graphics to go with the poems.
I cannot write a line of poetry but I can sometimes see a picture when I read one. Then it is fun to search for a graphic to accompany it.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
I'm adding you to my poetry ping list, if you would like to be removed, please let me know.

Cute poem and graphic. I must admit that I didn't think of Olive Oyl when OESY said it was Tube Top Day. :)

"Well it is also World Egg Day!! Got a poem for it or one for Tube Top Day?"
World Egg Day
(But You Can Break Eggs
Without Making Omelettes...)
They say the Universe had its start,
As a sort of Cosmic Egg,
There is at least one question,
From its Creator I would beg,
So with fear and trepidation,
I step forth so I can ask it,
Is this the reason we know not,
To count eggs in a basket?

Happy Birthday Cowboy! (I think this dress beats any tube top anyone could come up with. Happy tube top day!) I hesitated to post this, but I can't resist a good challenge. Happy Birthday Cowboy!

Now to answer your question: We guys celebrate Tube Top Day -- just in case you thought we were getting a little too carried away with our postings of poems, pets and all things associated with feminine pulchritude.

Let me correct my last post. TODAY, per the accompanying complete and unabridged list, is:
World Post Day
Leif Erikson Day
Independence Day (Uganda)
Pumpkin Festival (Oklahoma)
Grape-Pumpkin Festival (New York)
Chili Cook-Off (Indiana)
Autumn Lighthouse Festival (Ohio)
Oyster Festival (Virginia)
Mule Day Southern Heritage Festival (Georgia)
Harvest Festival (New York)
Turkey Festival (Missouri)
Harvest Festival (Georgia)
Fall Festival (New York)
October Festival (California)
Okefenokee Festival (Georgia)
To participate in NY's celebration, my wife and I will be leaving in a few minutes to go to a local Hudson Valley winery for a Harvest Menu (food and wine) tasting. I won't promise coherent thoughts afterwards, if ever.

Negotiations
Is he buying? Or is he selling?
I dont see any teardrops welling.
The puppy seems to be calm, too.
Might this young master really do?
Others may have looked into,
Deep brown eyes of lets-go-do,
But they didnt have the means,
Or the jingle in their jeans.
This young man looks confident,
Like an independent gent.
The problem is; what will he like,
This doggy, or a well-used bike?
