I'll be quick with my last two postings from my prior Army life, then try to a little more creative in the future -- although it's interesting to note the ease with which Army cadence calls mesh with this form of Japanese verse. Yet, I can imagine how mortified my hard-nosed drill sergeant would be if he knew he was contributing to the Tao of the Renga. LOL!
Tao of the Renga *
crystals form like fallen ferns
fond memories flirting in time
gone the green essence of life
fine fronds weaving with the wind
feathery wisps of lace blend
with blue skies and autumn hues
light peers through, distant, haunting
an eery pause to reflect
our spirit seeks elusive truths
silence merely mocks with smiles
we yearn to hear the message
only sorrows pierce the calm:
used to drive a limousine
now I'm wearing Army green
got a letter in the mail
go to war or go to jail
Marched up to my recruiter,
said he'd make me a shooter.
I will go to war today
But first shove peacenics away
mama mama can't you see
What this Army's done for me
It wasn't easy, you see
But they made a man of me **
ain't no use in lookin' down
ain't no discharge on the ground
marching down the avenue
five more weeks and I'll be through ***
* Renga or "linked verse" is Japanese poetry
whereby people take turns adding lines or verses.
One types 7 syllables -- not words -- in a line,
which is in turn completed by another person.
** LOL! I heard that California health insurance
might nowadays cover the operation. True or false?
*** Verse designed to be called by John F. Kerry
Meanwhile, today is ....
Kiss Day
Yom Kippur
Native American Day
Have a happy!
Two DUmmies were escorting John Kerry on visits to local firehouses.
When Kerry saw the fireman's pole, he inquires as to its height. The DUmmies decide they had better climb up the pole to find out -- but each time, exhausted, they fail, sliding down right in front of their candidate.
Along comes this really big, musclebound fireman who asks, "Hey, what are you idiots doing?"
The two DUmmies reply, "We're trying to measure the height of this pole."
The fireman wraps his arms around the pole, pulls it from the floor, lays it down and measures it. Then he picks it up, puts it back, fastens it to the floor, says "40 feet" and walks away.
The first DUmmy turns to the other and says, "What a stupid guy -- we wanted the height, not the length."
I am paying for my pre-sun screen awareness youth. I am not worried about it. I just don't like getting carved on. Thanks for your prayers.
Put him on Purina Large Breed Puppy Pro Plan. It will keep him from growing too fast.
Been wandering far and wide.
As is usual for me.
LOL
***** Very funny!!!!
LOL!!!!
Something like that happened to my mom. She had baked and decorated a birthday cake for my sister. My mom turned or left the room just long enough for the dog to take a big bite out of the side. I think that same dog took a bite out of a ham or something once too. The dog also liked to pick her own peaches out of dwarf peach trees and chew on them for awhile, and dug a few potatoes and ate them.
So is Louie/Max running some of the "jump" out of Millie?
My cat's temp was normal, 100, last night. He had not eaten at the vet's, they gave him water through an IV. He "cried" all the way home, which was unusual, he usually only "cries" on the way there. He did not want to be held or cuddled when he got home (he's mad at me), but he did drink water and eat. Seems to be back to some of his normal behaviors. I have to give him anti-biotic DROPS!!!! Pills would have been easier!! I'm going to bribe him by giving him some cat milk substitute after his meds. Maybe that little part of the ritual will make it worth it to him.
I love that photo of pumpkins! Color and shapes!
Several of us abused our bodies by not using sunscreen when we were young and thought nothing about getting sunburned.
Take care.
Come to today's thread and bring some of your musings with you. :)
We have him on Iam's Large Breed Puppy food. I had never heard of this but the vet told us to get the Large Breed Puppy dry food.
For peace in the family, we are also feeding this to Millie. She is grown but she is very hyper and has no extra pounds on her sleek body.
Okers.
Sure glad to hear that he is back to almost normal.
Good luck with the med.
LOL!! Thank you.
