When you were in, Bob, were they promoting putting women in combat situations?
At one of my last jobs we gained a couple of early-retired military people, during the Clinton administration. I asked one of them about having women in the service and he said he didn't have any problems. But I kept reading about romances, rapes by officers of underlings, and pregnancies (and of course abortions).
