I haved lived here on the beach since 1983. I will miss the ocean, but the area is starting to decline....illegals. I hope I made the right decision.

I absolutely hate to see people resorting to government decree in this sort of thing. Everytime I visit New York my relatives want me to sau how good it is that there is no smoking in restaurants. I try to explain to them that in a restriction by law EVERYBODY loses, because your ox may get gored next.
It's like talking to the wall. If I want a seat in non-smoking, I can wait.

My friends that are bar owners in Delaware have been seriously hurt by the smoking ban. People that used to come and hang out, just aren't anymore.
The places that have outside seating are doing a booming business once the weather is OK - but it rained nearly every weekend last summer and so even they lost even more business then they normally would.
Most of the places where I am friends with the owners are only 15 miles from the nearest bar in Maryland. The ban went into effect before we moved to Virginia, while we still lived in Dover, we took our Friday afternoon "date time" over the line into Maryland, as opposed to dealing with the ban in Delaware........

That is really sad. A number of friends of mine had owned pubs here...some for 20 some years, and they went broke. We need to take back our freedom!
To: Gabz
I have friends there. I will have to get used to the heat, though:)

It's like talking to the wall. Yes, it is. I've got no problem sitting in the non-smoking section, or even going to non-smoking restaurants.....as long as those restaurants are non-smoking by the choice of the owner and not the government. Even my left-leaning former-smoker SIL totally opposed, and still opposes, the Delaware smoking ban.
I've got no problem with people that don't want to be around smoke.......my problem is with people that insist that EVERY place be smoke free because MAYBE, SOMEDAY, they MIGHT, POSSIBLY decide to enter a given establishment.

Great rant.....all true!!!!

Yes, it is very sad.
Unfortunately too many people do not see the big picture. As was said by another, they will scream when it is their ox being gored.....

What you do is: have a second browser on your machine that has cookies disables.
Cut and paste the URL you want to multi-vote on, and fill your boots.
The cookies MUST be disabled before you even paste the URL though. At least that's been my experience.
Mozilla absolutely rocks for this game.

That is probably the national average. But the politicians wanted extra revenue, and they spent it on general funds, not anti smoking ads...Grand theft smokes!!
To: Just another Joe
Okay, I am upset!
Just when I started studying to take the real estate test so I could move to Santa Monica, they ban smoking on the beach!!!! GRRR!
I was already a little upset cause they won't let my fur person on the beach, now this???????!!! Maybe I want to stay an inlander afterall!!!!

It actually means "of or pertaining to worms; wormy."
But the name "Vermicious Knid" is from the classic children's book, "Charley and the Chocolate Factory," by Roald Dahl.
The Umpa Lumpas were saved from the Vermicious Knid (who liked to eat said Umpa Lumpas) by Willie Wonka.

That's OK.
Hey, anybody know the final results of this poll? It was taken offline sometime last night.
