Apparently I had a stomach bug yesterday .... played hooky and spent most of the day in bed, tossing and turning. Some time during the night I finally shook it off and slept soundly the last half of the night. Thankfully it seems to have been the 24-hour variety of virus and not the beginning of the flu. Feeling much better today.

(Have you prayed for our President and our troops today?)
To: lysie; Molly Pitcher; *ATRW
Yikes!!! Praying. A driver of an SUV thought he would use the light rail tracks as the place he should drive.
Last night, the dirver of an SUV going on Highway 66 in Virginia - not sure which direction - got into an accident where the vehicle flipped over the center barricade, broke through the fence around the metro tracks and came to rest on the rails. The snow started just before I left the house; the accident had long taken place, so it was not weather related.
Metro indicated there was no damage to the rails, but they had to extract the vehicle from the Metro right-of-way.
In that process, people were herded (the picture you get in your mind when you say "herd of cattle" fits) of the subway at the West Falls Church station and onto busses. Now an average metrorail train at West Falls Church, inbound, has onboard between four and five hundred souls. The average bus holds about 50. Thus a law of physics problem ensues because there just aren't that many spare busses. Must have been well over 1,000 folks lined up with nowhere to go.
Metro took passengers on the bus two rail stops eastward (toward the city). Now it is rush hour, and snowing. Busses don't go any faster than cars. The trip - roughly three miles - took nearly an hour.
And the ultimate irony? When the bus arrived at the Balston metrorail entrance, the SUV had been extracted and normal service had been resumed--so the subway car at the platform was packed.

lysie, that movie is not supposed to be one of Grant's best, but I've always liked it.

Glad to hear that.
One of my friends at work has the crud..she called me yesterday to tell me why she hadn't been in for a few days and she sounded terrible on the phone.
I told her to stay home and use the long weekend to rest...and keep the crud at home..LOL.

I loved the train. LOL I guess some of the critics thought that was goofy. There are very few Grant movies....especially comedy..that I don't like.

Good Morning Sweetie. It sounds like you're getting that nasty weather we had earlier this week. Hang on! It doesn't last all that long.

The Pope visits Washington and President Bush takes him for a ride down the Potomac on the presidential yacht. They're enjoying themselves when a gust of wind blows the Pope's hat (zucchetto) off and out onto the water. The Secret Service begins to launch a boat but Bush waves them off saying, "Wait. I'll take care of this."
Bush steps off the yacht onto the surface of the water, walks out a ways, and picks up the hat. Back on board, he hands the hat to the Pope amid stunned silence.
The next morning the Washington Post carries the story complete with photos
under the heading BUSH CAN'T SWIM.

There's a Photo Shop version of the photo you posted,,, it has GW's face pasted onto the soldier's body. Don't remember where I saw it. If I can find it, I'll drag it in here and ping you to it. The paste job wasn't particularly well done,,, but who am I to whine? I don't do Photo Shop, at all.

GOOD A.M. TO ALL FROM THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST, USA!!!!
It is raining here this A.M., 'dampened' my plans for the day but there is always tomorrow (I hope).
I think we have a lot of 'one pot Charlies' out there that claim they are NOT going to vote for OUR President W because on ONE thing they don't agree with him on, I hear this on a lot of the radio talk shows and its usually 'I voted for Perot' or someone else and it is wrong as far as I am concerned, Bush is the best thing that has happened to this country in a long, long time. OK, vote for a democrat and really see this country go to hell in a hand basket. Just me folks, I am that way you know.
The loan for the new house for the kids went through and they sign it Monday, we are on the way folks, the last years of my life are going to be live exactly as I want it to. I have been granted a wonderful life, praticed my childhood dream of being a policeman, married MY Ms. America, got some winners for kids and THE BEST grand daughter in the whole wide world plus just a bunch of friends here on ATRW and yes, I have been blessed. Besides, I have me a 53 Ford tractor named 'Clo-Tee', what more could a fella ask for.
Just downed my last cup of coffee, going to have my daily dose of grits (with toast) so gotta run for now. Prayers for OUR President W and our troops, for the elderly, that graying bunch of us who always think you young folks are going a good job running this ole world. Have a good day, Toby.

Holy Frostbite, Batman! It's -17 here! The high today will be a toasty -6.
Happy Birthday, Jemian.
The President's proposed guest worker plan will be demagogued-to-death, I suppose. He was the Governor of a border state and probably spent a fair amount of time considering solutions. The more interesting part to me is what kind of legislation the Congress will produce in response to his policy statement. Hmph - laws and sausages, etc...
Enjoy your day, everyone!
