Fast food chain Burger King is set to close up to 400 locations across the country this year, with the under-performing ones being the first to go.
According to the Daily Mail, Burger King CEO Joshua Kobza confirmed the closures after the company announced its results for the first quarter of 2023. The earnings release noted that from the start of the year until March, Burger King closed 124 locations – leaving 6,964 restaurants still operating. This is a historic high, said Kobza, as the fast food chain usually closes a couple of hundred stores annually.
However, the CEO clarified that not all of the 300 to 400 locations set to close this year have been revealed. He also admitted that there is “a fair degree of uncertainty” around the plans. Sales performance can vary greatly between Burger King locations; one poorly-performing location could see things turn out in its favor the next month.
The company is seeking additional franchisees with stronger finances this year, according to Burger King Chairman Patrick Doyle. He also hinted at the possibility of under-performing franchisees being axed.

Don’t disparage Burger King. They can fry a fish filet into a burnt, hockey puck-like disk as well as any McDonalds.
Perhaps they can start a dylan mulveney burger queen ad blitz
What did they say about chicfila?
Lol, I worked at a burger chef in high school. I got fired because the manager wanted me to go to the grocery store in the shopping center. We were in to pick up some thing. I took off my burger chef smock to go, but he wanted me to wear it, I refused, he fired me.
Maybe 400 people might notice. I stopped going to BK since their food taste went flat and their service is maybe, maybe, 1 order completed per 15 minutes. Wendy’s is the same way. It took 20 minutes on average to get through the drive thru. I am not so sure any place even serves beef anymore. I can’t even identify what Taco Hell serves. I don’t they can, either.
I don’t like the food anymore at any place, and for the price and wait, I just don’t go to fast-food anymore.
My friend and I worked at a BK in high school. I was getting some food to go after shift. He made me a three patty Whopper off book. Manager was the one who gave it to me and thought it felt heavy. She fired him that night. I quit when I found out, and that was my last experience working fast food, 40 years ago.
All the fast food places are probably going extinct relatively soon.
When McDonald’s is charging $2.50 for
their basic tiny crappy cheeseburger that can’t last.
Thanks, I’ll check it out.
Or an alternative business strategy: They could start making food that tastes good and provide itto customers with decent, polite service.
(Yeah, I know, That’s just crazy talk.)
Too many vegans. Ugh.
A friend says they have good milkshakes. With real ice cream even!
Now think about what goes on that you CAN’T see in the kitchen of your eatery of choice.
I miss their old Whaler fish sandwiches, yummy. Big as the Whoppers. Then, they shrank...
Inflation has many targets huh Joey.
They made of them for being closed on Sundays.
Burger King ad made fun of Chick fil a for being closed on Sundays.
