“Go woke, go broke” is the slogan that keeps on giving. The latest installment of woke, politically active retailers now facing financial ruin in the form of shuttering stores and mass layoffs is none other than conservative-hating Bed Bath & Beyond.
According to CNBC, the retailer announced this week that it will close down 150 namesake stores, as well as plans to hand out pink slips to a whopping 20% of its workforce, mostly in the supply chain and corporate sectors of the business. The moves were announced ahead of an expected investor update on Wednesday in the company’s seemingly desperate bid to stay afloat.
As you’ll recall, BBB made headlines in early 2021 after it was confirmed by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell that the retailer had canceled his legendary MyPillow line at the same time he was involved with conservative activism on behalf of former President Donald Trump, specifically working on issues related to election fraud claims.
At the time, Business Insider reported:
Bed Bath & Beyond has cut ties with My Pillow, the pillow manufacturing company founded by Trump supporter Mike Lindell, the retailer confirmed to Insider.
Lindell first reported the retailer axing his products, telling a Fox News affiliate and right-wing media outlet RSBN about stores dropping the brand. In the interviews, Lindell attributed the retailer’s decision to social media pressure led by “leftist groups.”
“They’re trying to cancel companies now,” he told RSBN.
The move to cancel MyPillow from being sold in Bed Bath & Beyond stores was significant because, at the time, it was the largest national retailer that stocked Lindell’s famous pillow and bed products. Lindell took the decision in stride and would eventually receive significant support from countless high-profile conservative influencers, which undoubtedly kept his brand alive and thriving.

We agree on that.
No way a retailer with hundreds of companies and thousands of items went broke because of one measly outfit.
BBB has been in financial trouble and closing stores for quite some time. Really has nothing to do with MyPillow, I’m pretty sure.
Any business model that alienates half of your potential customer base is doomed to failure
So where does one find a discount code to use for buying My Pillow items?
Used to be I would hear it on Pandora Radio, but I have not listened to them in a long time.
I don’t see them anywhere else. But then again, most of my news I get online. Don’t watch TV or listen to the radio much.
Good
I haven’t set foot in one of their stores for years.
Them canceling MyPillow pretty much sealed it for me.
I used to like to shop there 15 years ago.
Before they close the doors, every Freeper should walk in, load up your carriage with hundreds of dollars of merchandise, and then at the check-out,
ask for the My Pillow sheets set, mattress toppers, etc.
“Oh. You don’t carry them? That’s all I really came in here for......”
and walk out.
(it was the largest national retailer that stocked Lindell’s famous pillow and bed products)
Mike Lindell will continue to sell.
Bed Bath and Beyond will continue to fail.
Would ya look at that..... LOL!
I used to go there once or twice a year, usually only for clearance or on-sale items or to use the coupon I got in the mail. However, they had an extensive supply of kitchen gadgets that most stores don’t carry, so I’ll miss that. The store was always pretty empty, except at Christmas, and I always wondered how they stayed in business for so long.
I know several other former regular customers of BBB who did the same as your wife.
Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond went woke. Now they’re in a death spiral. I wonder if left-wing businesses have learned anything from this experience.
Yes, they were in decline... but I’m sure
It’s also because they WENT WOKE!
Plenty of us white supremicists and semi-Nazis stopped going there for ANY of their products.
BLM!
My Pillow!
covid!
they picked the wrong side.
Tucker Carlson’s show on FOX provides it. And so do many other shows on FOX.
We actually got many great deals there over the years. When they started closing nearby stores (45 min. or closer), we stopped buying there.
If we hadn't stopped buying already when they canceled Lindell, well, we wouldah then! So there!
Too bad. They had good stuff. Sorry they had financial stumbles--and then popped the poison pill to go all-out woke. Ticking off customers is . . . crazy.
OK.
I’ll watch Tucker more often.
Great idea. Pile on a bunch of work for some poor slob working in retail. Don’t be a jerk
“Lindell attributed the retailer’s decision to social media pressure led by “leftist groups.”
A lot more ‘righties’ than lefties out here.
I haven’t shopped at JC Penneys since you know when.
Aw, that’s a shame.
I wonder how much it has to do with MyPillow. I had only occasionally shopped at Bed, Bath & Beyond. After the MyPillow incident I refuse to shop there. It’s really not sacrifice to me. I never really like the store so I’m not missing it. Maybe there are a bunch of other people who did the same, sort of quiet boycott. Combine that with a poor business model and presto, out of business.
