J.R.R. is ‘Right Out’, Rings of Power is Perfect For Those Who Always Felt There Was Too Much Tolkien in Lord of the Rings

"People with ZERO talent long had no options for expressing themselves, and since most of them were democRATs they finally used their Borg hive mind to come up with a scheme to steal the work of others (usually a book) and after changing it to suit their world view (communism) pass it off as the original work in a movie or on TV then gaslight so few people notice. This has nothing to do with black vs white, and everything to do with leftists intentionally ruining things they did not create AND also it only ever going in one direction on the race swapping. Black people are just (usually) their weapon of choice and one has to wonder why they insult non-whites with personalized knockoffs of white culture anyway and why that is readily accepted.

Which brings us to the upcoming Amazon streaming series ‘The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power’[SIC] a prequel which..."

Idris Elba was Heimdall in the Marvel Thor movies.
I’m sure the Nordic people that never saw a black person worship a black god…

I understand what you are saying.. but like I said, your view is skewed by your environment, and what you consider “normal”.

If a Korean or Indian film maker where doing shakespere they would use Korean or Indian actors usually.

The same way Hollywood used white men in makeup to play Indians or Asians in old movies.

I have been watching a lot of Bollywood and Korean-made films recently and it what I am trying to explain suddenly accured to me.

Actually, in Tolkien’s work the female dwarfs do have beards. There was only one dwarf female, Dis, who was ever mentioned by name though.

GOT’s final season ended my interest in any other GOT prequels, sequels or any other “quels”!

It was so poorly done and an obvious rush job. It was clear the actors had had enough and were only interested in cashing their checks and moving on.

"Shawshank Redemption" is another example of the film measuring up to the book version (in this case the Stephen King novella "Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption". I also agree with "Godfather" but I really liked the Mario Puzo book version as well. Another example would be the 1946 film version of Raymond Chandler's "The Big Sleep" starring Bogart and Bacall.

That's not to say I shun film versions of my favorite books. I will almost always be up for watching a film based on a book I've read. It's just very difficult for any film maker to top the written version.

we wouldn’t expect a Bollywood movie to have a bunch of white people in all the rolls would we? So when other countries (or in this case cultures) make a movie, they make it with the best actors that they have available nearby.

I was on a business trip to Germany in the late 2000s. After dinner, I returned to my hotel room and turned on the TV. There was a Star Trek episode playing. The audio was dubbed with German speakers. The voices were VERY different from the original English speaking actors. Mostly voices that were much lower. It was amusing when observed from a background of having heard the original English speaking actors.

Almost no movie matches the book it it based on. The book is almost always better, and LotR is great literature that is virtually impossible to encapsulate in cinema. That said, I feel that Peter Jackson and his team did a fantastic job with the LotR movies.

Jackson clearly loved the source material and tried to distill it as faithfully as he could. He delivers on giving a feel of Tolkien’s world and the major outlines of the story. The movies were a technical achievement of their day; the stand well on their own and they did a great job of introducing millions to Tolkien’s work who never would have read it before.

My kids like to pull the DVDs out a couple times a year and we all end up watching the whole extended edition. They have also worn out a couple sets of the books.

The Hobbit movies were a big let down in comparison.

But Hollywood DOESN’T make their movies with the best available actors. They insist on Affirmative Action.

Bingo! The very reason I avoid most of what they produce. The reason my TV hasn't been powered up and displaying "broadcast" TV since 1999. I encounter it periodically on the TV screens at Applebee's. It just affirms my resolve to not waste power running the boob tube at home with that content source.

I never saw the Game of Thrones TV Series but have watched enough clips of it on YouTube to give the the gist of it. It was enough to get me to tackle the book series. At some point, I'll get around to watching the complete TV series version but the books are not complete yet.

There are two volumes yet to be released, "The Winds Of Winter" and "A Dream Of Spring." I'm pretty sure that Martin will deviate quite a bit from how the TV series ended, especially after the audience reaction to it.

That is, if he ever gets those two books finished. George RR Martin is pushing into his mid-70s and doesn't look too healthy based on photos of him. In fact, he looks like he could play the role of one of the aging maesters on the TV show!

I hope he's able to push those final books out because as I said earlier, he's a very good writer.

Indians tell Indian stories with ethnic Indians. Nigerians tell Nigerian stories with ethnic Nigerians. Chinese tell Chinese stores with ethnic Chinese.

Some stories are rooted in European white ethnicity. The legend of King Arthur. Norse myths. Much of Shakespeare. European history.

These woke films aren't even engaged in color blind casting in search of the "best actors." They're intentionally seeking to rewrite Europeans stories and histories. The hope is that future generations will think that Europe always had large numbers of Africans and Muslims, and that European achievements are African and Muslims achievements.

There was a recent movie about Anne Boleyn, in which she was portrayed by a very African looking African. Sorry, that's not history.

This isn’t a new thing, although the race swaps weren’t always for partisan political reasons as they are today. Other famous examples include ‘About Last Night…’ (1986) (which was originally a 1974 play ‘Sexual Perversity in Chicago’ about four Jewish people) then changed from an all-white movie cast to an all-black movie cast for ‘About Last Night’ (2014) the true horror of which is the casting of unfunny and always overly loud dwarf Kevin Hart that makes it so obscene (his CC commercials make us want to tear our hair out).

Kevin Hart is kind of funny. Plus, you're right. It's not new and wasn't political in the old days. You realize that none of the four main actors in the 1986 movies was Jewish either.

Hollywood is all about copying, and I don't think anybody had any serious trouble with "The New Odd Couple" (which nobody watched) being African-American. It's on par with remaking a French or Japanese movie with an American cast or vice versa.

There's a difference between recasting movies about contemporary life and "nontraditional casting" in historical dramas. Hollywood overdoes it now, but it wasn't always a terrible thing.

The really infuriating thing about this is that there actually is racial/ethnic diversity in Tolkien's world. If they wanted to to have roles for black/minority actors, there was a perfect storyline that was written by Tolkien himself.

Tolkien's "privileged" race of men, the Numenoreans, sailed to other places in Middle Earth, initially as teachers, bringers of medicine, etc.. This included sailing to lands further south where there were people "of color".

But over time, many Numenoreans became corrupted and greedy, and began enslaving other people in Middle-Earth for their own benefit. Eventually, those other people in Middle-Earth rebelled against the Numenorians. The Faithful, those Numenoreans who stayed loyal to the Valar, oppose that slavery and exploitation.

So crap, you have this great potential storyline of oppressed people rebelling against those who would try to enslave them. Great roles for "actors of color" right there in the source material. That background is especially key because it explains why Sauron was later able to recruit the descendents of those people to his cause.

Instead, they go full woke. We now have black elves, black dwarves, and romantic/sexual relationships between elves and men, directly contradicting Tolkien's own statement that there were only three unions of elves and men prior to Aragorn and Arwen.

Utter crap.

I agree that many times they are simply doing it for shock value or to push an agenda. And when they do it for that reason, the movie typically fails.

But, if they simply pick the best person for the role regardless of race, it can sometimes be surprisingly good.

honestly most amazon shows are garbage regardless of the color of the actors.

Netflix makes great content, but then inserts “wokeness” into them. Amazon just makes trash. They choose good stories, but the execution is horrible.

I don’t understand it, either, and I’m sorry I read it.

It’s nothing more than a profanity-filled blog post complaining that some of the actors are nonwhite in a new TV series based on LOTR.
