That Constitution thing. Separation of powers.
The House is part of the LEGISLATIVE branch of government.
The only investigative power the House has is in regard to legislation.
Criminal investigation/prosecution is the purview of the DOJ.
Too bad. So sad.

When confronted about the committee potentially recommending criminal charges against former President Donald Trump, Thompson replied: “We don’t have authority.” Nooooo kidding...

I was there, and it was NOTHING like Pearl Harbor or the Civil War. Politicians exaggerate. I have lost all my trust in the Uniparty.

It's a congressional committee, not a grand jury.
I fear their prospective legislative proposals.

889 days takes you back to January 2000. Math be hard.

Nope.

Math be extra hard for you. Maybe you should start by figgering out what year it is right now. Look at a newspaper if you need to. Or a kitchen calendar. What year is it when you go back 2 years and a little bit more from there?
Alternately, about how many days is it going back to January 6, 2021? (Hint: it's well fewer than 800)
You do understand that the "Insurrection" happened in 2021, right? You know, after the Nov 2020 election?
This isn't supposed to b the hard part.

There is no DOJ in the Constitution. They cannot take away any vested power of the POTUS, actually.

So you really think 889 days divided by 365 per year equals 21 or so years. You’re just plain stupid. F off.

I’m no expert on process, but I kind of suspect that, while legally constituted committees can refer suspected wrongdoers to the DOJ, this committee is not legally constituted by virtue of Nancy’s appointment of all the members, excluding anyone who would stand against the foregone conclusion, and therefore lacks the authority to make recommendations to the DOJ. Or to anyone else, for that matter. It’s a Stalinist show trial.

“889 days takes you back to January 2000 Math be hard.” You said Jan 2000 in your original post ⬆️. That’s what the correction was referrring to.
