“Idlers” and Quitters Rule the “Antiwork” Subreddit

Here’s a little story that clearly demonstrates the effect that 40+ years of Commie/anti-American propaganda taught in public schools has had: ‘Anti-work’ threads on Reddit are fueling the Great Resignation.

On Reddit, the “antiwork” subreddit is now one of the social network’s most active and engaged pages, after seeing explosive growth during the COVID-19 pandemic. It currently has more than 1.6 million users, up from 180,000 in October 2020. People post epic text and e-mail screenshots of quitting their jobs, but the real heroes are so-called “idlers” — those who stay in jobs doing the absolute minimum to get by while still collecting a paycheck.

You can replace “antiwork” with anti-capitalism as that is what this is really about. It’s a continuation of the Occupy Wall Street movement,

no you wake up

Antifa,

ClassWar

and other “anarchy’ groups and movements that have emerged since Obama’s fundamental transformation of America.ADDITION Occupy Wall Street Oakland

This is Doreen Ford, she’s the moderator of the “Antiwork” subreddit:

Antiwork moderator Doreen Ford says that movement is a major snub towards capitalism.I could be wrong but it looks like Doreen could use a shave.

Doreen says that the movement is intended as a major snub of capitalism:

She noted that the general idea behind the anti-work movement “is to reduce the coercive element of labor as much as possible by subverting capitalism,” and said that those active on the page are mainly far leftists who support Bernie Sanders and AOC, and, often also identify as socialists, communists and/or anarchists.

What a surprise: all of society’s lay-abouts, working hard to avoid work.

occupy empty pizza boxes

It’s clear that the new Commies/Socialists/Anarchists “antiwork” cohort contribute to America’s declining labor participation rate. They don’t feel they should have to work in order to live – that’s such a 20th century concept.

After trending up for more than three decades, the labor force participation rate peaked at 67.3 percent in early 2000. Over the next few years, the rate receded to about 66 percent and stayed at that level through 2008. The participation rate then dropped again, and by mid-2016, it stood at 62.7 percent.

And it currently rests around 61.8%. Which, along with the subreddits who are trying to do as little as possible and still draw a paycheck from either a private sector employer or the government, pretty much explains the ongoing “COVID” labor shortage plaguing America. It’s an anti-capitalist movement. Brought to you courtesy of Public Schools and the US government.

best and brightestAnd whose fault is that, honey?

And people wonder why American businesses are hell-bent on hiring immigrants (legal and illegal) from every Third World dump on the planet.

As one Mexican-American comedian once said: “You’ll never see a Mexican in Los Angeles begging for money on a street corner.”

My father, God rest his soul, always told me if I expected to eat, have clothes on my back and a roof over my head then I needed to be prepared to work to keep them. No work, no grub.

I spend some time on Reddit. I find this particular subreddit to be both funny and infuriating.

One of the things you need to keep in mind when reading ANY reddit subreddit: This site is full of kids (like, real kids—12-18 years old.) The site is full of China plants. The site is full of people posting the most outrageous stories in an attempt to get “karma.”

In short...the site should be taken like a focus group; you listen but you do not take their positions seriously without doing a lot of fact checking.

Its fun to get a sense of trends. But if you read everything seriously, you will find yourself getting an unwarranted anxiety.

Read Reddit as if you are listening to the nerds in the high school cafeteria.

I think this is more complicated than some may think.

OK, some people feel entitled and they just want “stuff” and don’t feel that they need to work for it. That’s a problem.

But some people have worked hard, followed all the rules, and done everything right. And they lose their job to H1-B immigrants who will work cheap. Americans in that situation feel that their job has let them down.

Some companies complain that they can’t hire workers. Well, the problem there is that they don’t pay enough. The work may end up going offshore, but it doesn’t have to — offer a decent wage.

Plenty of workplaces are consumed by political correctness, diversity police, COVID craziness and other toxic policies. A lot of workers don’t want to put up with that crap any more.

A lot of people in management do not respect their workers. They don’t listen. They won’t adopt new ideas. It can be a frustrating environment and some of the best workers are the first to say “I don’t have to put up with this crap”.

I say that big changes are needed in how America views “work”.

Of course, another view is that American citizens are really just wage slaves and they need to do as they are told, they need to accept depressing careers and they need to accept whatever wages their boss chooses to toss at them, and if the worker doesn’t like it, then he and his family can starve in an alley. Who cares about selfish workers? The only thing that ever matters is the bottomline of the business.

I think a fair number of Conservative/Libertarian/Rightwing people place too much value on “business” and too little value on “workers”. HINT: If elections still mean anything at all, the voters (”workers”) may be receptive to the party that tries to help the “workers”.

I hate to burst their bubble, but under communism they would not be allowed to just lay about and not work. They will work at whatever they are told to do, and be killed for under performing.

Education of these kids went to hell long ago.

Parents need to be in charge of the Education system now, its the only way, because public education is trash.

Capitalism produces EVERYTHING Socialists/Communists/Democratic-Socialists wish to “redistribute.”

Socialism/Communism/Democratic-Socialism produces NOTHING Socialists/Communists/Democratic-Socialists wish to “redistribute.”

Socialism/Communism/Democratic-Socialism can only exist as a parasite of capitalism.

The more Socialism/Communism/Democratic-Socialism you have, the less capitalism you have.

The less capitalism you have, the less Socialists/Communists/Democratic-Socialists have to “redistribute.”

Needs to be a top priority of Republicans, strike while the iron is hot and enable choice and vouchers and eventually assist competition through government subsidy to build new schools.

Spot on. Wild stories, exaggeration, out right lies but there are some kernels of truth in this Reddit if you look hard enough.

Greed and anti nationalist global capitalists on the right killed the good that was pro American capitalism.

I agree with a lot of your points, but from what I’ve seen since the early days of “Occupy Wall Street” I’d say very, very few of these young people were employable in any field where they’d be competing with H-1B visa workers. In fact, the common theme for a lot of these people is that they had useless college degrees — and carrying enormous college debts from them. None of these people were capable of working in a job that would pay them sufficiently to cover the cost of that debt.

This is one of the dirty little secrets about foreign-born workers in so many professional fields. One of the reasons they work for so much less pay than their American counterparts is that they don’t have to cover the huge cost of a U.S. college education that simply isn’t worth what was paid for it.

The Democrats, formerly known as the party of the working class, has become the party of the shirking class.

I don’t disagree with you, but these Occupy Wall Street and AntiFa nitwits all seem to come from wealthy white families.

If the only job you can find is bagging groceries then I've got a news flash for you: You are not the "best and brightest" of your generation, or any generation for that matter.

In spite of what you may have been told, regardless of how many participation trophies you have. Forget all the socialist drivel fed you by the media and elitist educational fools. You are not oppressed, not being held back by anyone but yourself. You are not motivated, not too bright, certainly not "the best" your generation has to offer.

A hard reality, but it gives you something to work towards - improving yourself so you are actually qualified-to and capable-of doing something more meaningful than bagging groceries.

Not that there is anything wrong with that. I did it. As a teen and young adult I bagged groceries, stocked shelves, pumped gas, cut grass, landscaped (ie. moved a lot of mulch). Yes these are low paying jobs. They are not careers.

You should aspire to more, and work for it. Don't expect it to be handed to you.

BOOMERS worked long hours, toiled at hard manual labor and stayed in the work force well into their late 60s.
Now, BOOMERS are enjoying the fruit of their labors with travel and leisure time courtesy of their retirement fund set asides PLUS SSA.

Today’s labor force wants government to give them a living wage for little to no work at menial employment.
Meanwhile they try to live the leisure-life their parents are having in retirement with help from the grandparents “riches”.

And, when that doesn’t work, they whine and complain to government that their fore-fathers aren’t appropriately sharing their retirement with their children.

Then, when that doesn’t work, they ask the government to confine, restrict, and kill the generation they despise.

BOOMERS lived through the war protests and civil rights violence.
BOOMERS know “racism” first hand and taught subsequent generations to reject it.
Subsequent generations now believe they invented racial tolerance and accuse their teachers of “systemic racism”.
George Floyd’s criminal legacy has a more lasting impact on history than MLKJ.
Let that sink in...

BOOMERS are the target.

I would prefer we close out borders and let MARKET FORCES ACT TO SET WAGES instead of arbitrarily setting them and forcing them down artificially through global labor arbitrage.
