Just came back from watching "HALLOWEEN KILLS" and I was disappointed. I love the franchise and have been looking forward to watching it for over a year. It was originally supposed to be released in October 2020 and, my first thought as the end credits rolled was: "I've waited a year for this?" The story picked up where the 2018 film left off - at Laurie Strode's burning home.
A few 'woke' moments in the film:
1 - A male gay couple moved into Michael Myers old house. They know all about its past but don't care. The love the home and have it beautifully decorated. They are, of course, butchered to death by Michael. He places their bodies close to each other - one of the victim's heads is laying on the other one's lap. I'm sure that the gay lobby is not happy about this scene.
2 - About 20 Firefighters are killed by Michael in one brutal scene. First Responders - Dead. Why and how, you ask? Writers were very creative and it was beyond sickening. A Firefighter friend of mine is pissed off at this plot.
3 - Lots of black people (men & women) get butchered in the film - I mean, some gory sh*t. I'm sure BLM is not happy about these scenes.
4 - Lots of women get murdered horrifically. Wonder if women's groups will rise up and protest.
5 - Jamie Lee Curtis ("Laurie Strode") never left the hospital. Her scenes were all about her hate for Michael while she held her stomach and asked for pain meds.
6 - The Mayor of Haddonfield, Illinois is made to look like a David Clarke (Former Milwaukee Sheriff), with cowboy hat & all - and is made to be this dumb as rocks idiot who has no idea how to control the murder spree in his town.
All in all -- had a nice time with my son, but could've gone to the grocery store instead today. My two cents' worth.
Gee. Sounds like the feel-good hit of the year.
I don’t know if those moments qualify as “woke” based on my understanding of what woke means. Just sounds kind of sick to me…
Yeah I was underwhelmed with it as well. If you’re looking for a decent new horror give The Night House(2020) a try.
I always maintained that the original Halloween was a highly moral movie because it showed what happens when teenagers have sex. But I think the general moral tone of the series has declined over time.
” ...it showed what happens when teenagers have sex.”
LOL! By that logic, I should have been carved up by a psychopath 40+ years ago!
Livin’ on borrowed time!
In the old horror movies only the virgin girl and the guy with the best hair survived.
Jamie lee is so old and haggard she’s scarier than Michael Myers
ugh, i don’t think we saw the same movie.
Not a big fan of the franchise. This was just a bad movie.
; )
Next movie - 'HALLOWEEN - The Breastfeeders.' What horror.
#1 actually has SOME socially redeeming value!🎃
Sounds like advanced study for a surgeon. Are you a surgeon?
They even made a joke about it in Cabin in the Woods, the best “horror” movie of the last 20 years.
So this one starts after Halloween and ignores Halloween 2 through Halloween 5 (or whatever the last Halloween movie was)?
Sounds like the kind of garbage that even the idiocracy would be ashamed to have around never mind actually watching.
Not that I like Jamie Lee - textbook Upper Klass leftist airhead from Beverly Hills - but you’d think she’d be smart enough to say “enough” with the Halloween films, and get better films.
