The mayor of a US town named Uranus has unveiled a new neon mural wall celebrating its location on Route 66.
Located in Missouri, the unincorporated town has a population of 25.
The neon light installation measures 6m high and 16m wide.
It features icons from towns also located on Route 66 including the Blue Swallow Motel in New Mexico, Cadillac Ranch in Texas and the Blue Whale of Catoosa in Oklahoma....
Other popular attractions in the town include the Fudge Factory and the General Store, but Mayor Baker said there's more work to be done and the town will "continue expanding Uranus".

I am so juvenile.
Well...
THERE ya go! Just build some mock Klingon ships and park a few, uh, “in orbit” around the place.
Hit up the Chamber of Commerce:
Uranus! Now with Klingons!
In 1982, my family and I went to the World’s Fair in Knoxville. We were camping in Gatlinburg, which wasn’t touristy at all. Driving through Pigeon Forge, there was nothing there except a couple of mom and pop motels and a few restaurants. It was one lane in each direction. My sister and I were walking down the main drag in the early evening. There were 2 men making and selling pork rinds in a 55 gallon drum on the side of the road. They were tasty.
A few years later, I saw a Dolly Parton ad on TV in NY about one of the hotels that was coming to Pigeon Forge. And now, 40 years later it is a huge tourist destination. The same thing could happen to Uranus, MO.
What about the dingleberry jelly?
I sure Shep Smith an Don Lemon are eagerly planning an in depth story on the innovative moves Uranus is making.
The local football team is called the Packers.
This board is at its best when discussing this planet
I pictured a rainbow circle.
"Welcome to Powderville
Mayor: Joe Hodges
Police Chief: Joe Hodges
Fire Chief: Joe Hodges
Drive safely--the life you save may be Joe's"
They also need a good old fashioned paper mill to open there that constantly emits the smell of rotten cabbage.
I have a feeling that Uranus was not a contentious choice... as there weren’t any other towns seeking that name. Not sure that was a win, though.
That is inspired.
Heh, me too. My favorite was "Regina: The Town That Rhymes With Fun":
"Oh! And that's why Regina rhymes with fun."
FYI, Teterboro, NJ is of a similar scale in terms of actual resident population. Every adult works for the local government in one or more roles or is related to or lives with same. Everybody rents, nobody owns. Strange but true
Billy: "I live in Uranus."
Just imagine the conversation with visitors.
No thanks. Wouldn’t want to live in nor around Uranus.
What’s the rural area called? Hairy Cheeks?
