A flight that was scheduled to take members of the White House press corps to Europe ahead of President Joe Biden's first foreign trip was delayed for several hours on Tuesday.
The cause? A hoard of cicadas, which caused mechanical problems with an airplane.
The plane was scheduled to leave Dulles International Airport at around 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday night. However, CNN and NPR report that airport officials told press members that the flight was delayed because cicadas had swarmed onto the airplane late Tuesday afternoon.
President Joe Biden made a joke at the White House press corps expense as he boarded Air Force One for his first foreign trip as president after the insects grounded his press plane en route to G7.
The president’s press plane was brought to a dramatic halt yesterday after a horde of Brood X cicadas grounded the aircraft for five hours.
In the video below Biden was attacked by a swarm of Cicadas moments before he got on camera.
The large, clear-winged insects with bulbous eyes, descended on the aircraft’s engine as it was poised to take off for Europe ahead of Mr Biden’s first foreign trip as president.
In a jab at the nuisance caused by the bugs on Wednesday while boarding his own plane for the trip the president said: “Watch out for the Cicadas. One just got me,”

As described in Exodus 10:5, “And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field.”
These Cicadas could be a sign of God.

The metaphor writes itself. Horny, annoyingly loud and disgusting insects on the outside and inside of the press plane.
These people who occupy the white house ARE insects. COCKROACHES!
