Oregon Becomes First State Requiring Vaccination Police to Check Vaccination Identification Before Entering any Business or Workplace without a Mask

Some said it wasn’t legal, others said private companies and businesses would not do it, well, regardless of legality – Oregon is doing it:

Oregon has lifted its mask mandate for people who have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, but is requiring businesses, workplaces and houses of worship to verify the vaccination status of individuals before they enter buildings without a mask.

This statewide mandate, one of the first of its kind in the country, raised concerns that the procedure of verifying vaccinations could be too cumbersome for workers.

[…] The Oregon Health Authority said in new guidance on Tuesday that effective immediately, businesses would be required to continue to enforce mask requirements unless they had established a policy to confirm proof of vaccination using a card or photo of one before individuals can enter the building without a mask....

I like what Vikingmom, a commenter on CT, had to write:

"I think the ONLY way this policy gets halted is for the NAACP and the Urban League come out FORCEFULLY against it, claiming that it is actually a back door method to discourage African Americans from patronizing certain business and from being able to travel freely. I absolutely maintain that there is a core of eugenicism at work here…they know that Blacks are far less likely to get the shots and so this will force them into feeling like they have to – and then watch and see who starts “suddenly” dying in higher percentages over the next few years!"

This probably would not work too well in Oregon, however, given the much smaller black population compared to most other states.

I don't know if she's right about the eugenics part and that blacks will die at a higher rate from vaccine complications, but I wouldn't be suprised if many blacks fear this. Perhaps with reason.

BTW, is the NAACP actively encouraging vaccination? Or are they ignoring the topic for the most part?

Anecdotally I can pass on that a white employee posted on our department's SharePoint site that she was so relieved to get the vax. Fifteen people posted "likes." Only one was a black person. She is a black Karen.

Of the 100 or so people in the department, about 25 are black.
