John Titor: The Time Traveler from the Year 2036
strangerdimensions.com ^ | January 30, 2019 | Rob Schwarz

Posted on 05/10/2021 5:16:14 PM PDT by Jet Jaguar

John Titor was an alleged time traveler from the year 2036, who shared detailed information about his time machine, mission, and original timeline with forum users in the years 2000 and 2001.

A Brief History Of John Titor In 1998, late night paranormal talk show host Art Bell received two faxes from an individual claiming to have pertinent information on the nature of time travel.

In the first fax, the sender (at that time, unnamed) detailed the discovery of time travel (involving the particle accelerator at CERN) in the year 2034. He also claimed that a “brick wall” existed in the timeline, and that no traveler could breach the year 2564.

The second fax, while less detailed, promised photographic evidence, as well as scans of the traveler’s time machine operations manual.

On November 2, 2000, an individual using the forum username TimeTravel_0 posted at the Time Travel Institute (TTI), in a thread titled Time-travel Paradoxes!: “Wow! Paul is right on the money. I was just about to give up hope on anyone knowing who Tipler or Kerr was on this worldline.

By the way, #2 is the correct answer and the basics for time travel start at CERN in about a year and end in 2034 with the first “time machine” built by GE. Too bad we can’t post pictures or I’de show it to you.” On January 27, 2001, this same user appeared on Art Bell’s Post to Post BBS, creating a new thread titled I am from 2036:

“Greetings. I am a time traveler from the year 2036. I am on my way home after getting an IBM 5100 computer system from the year 1975.

My “time” machine is a stationary mass, temporal displacement unit manufactured by General Electric. The unit is powered by two, top-spin, dual-positive singularities that produce a standard, off-set Tipler sinusoid.

I will be happy to post pictures of the unit.” The individual posting as John Titor went on to answer questions, detail the function and design of his time machine, and provide alleged photographs of the time machine and its operations manual. On March 24, 2001 John Titor shared his final message. “I will be leaving this worldline shortly and this will be my final post,” he wrote. True to his word, he never posted again.

To this day, no one knows John Titor’s true identity. His true name, his appearance, his location — all of it remains a mystery. If he was an actual time traveler, as he claimed, that version of John Titor no longer exists on this worldline. If he was a hoax, an individual playing a character, that person has yet to officially come forward to reveal the truth with evidence.

I was never fooled by the Titor story.

(But I’m still wondering about ‘Mel’s Hole’, and the ‘Alien in the Freezer’...)

It his time machine is stationary after his trip back to our time he will have arrive at a place, in our expanding universe, in space where the Earth will be at the future time he left. His arrival location will likely be a cold empty space.

I see you are doing some of that racist math again....time travel is about "feelings".

I remember this. Art Bell was one of the greatest interviewers ever. Didn’t matter what the subject was, he took his guest seriously. As a long time listener, you could occasionally tell when Art was rolling his eyes.

I need a Mel’s Hole to dump my rubbish in. Our landfill is expensive.

“And that was how coffee destroyed everything.” said the old man as he closed a book.
His grandchildren looked horrified.
“But you didn’t tell us how it did it!”
“You’ll learn. Don’t worry, you’ll learn.” he said, as he readied his shotgun for the next wave of zombie deer.

Can nose douche help for that?

Time travel (if it’s even possible) requires staggering amounts of energy due to the fact that the solar system is moving through space. The earth might return close to the same position relative to the sun as it was a year ago, but the solar system had also moved one year of travel in its orbit around the center of the galaxy—which has moved one year in its direction of travel through the universe. You need the energy to go back both in time _and in space_ to whatever exact wxyz coordinate your target was.

I was reading through the thread to see if anyone would bring this up. This is my biggest argument against time travel. Not only do you need a time machine, you also need a space ship (a TARDIS is apparently mandatory). The cumulative changes in spatial coordinates is considerable. The Earth rotates, it also revolves relative to the barycenter of the Earth-Moon system, (which is within the earth, but not at its center). The Earth moves around the sun. The solar system moves relative to its local group of stars, and the local group moves within the Milky Way galaxy. I believe there is also some movement relative to the local galaxies, and finally the galaxy itself moves within the universe as a whole. Taken all together, the cumlative velocity is nothing to sneeze at, and is actually fairly complex when you think of the many sub-movements going on.

If you were to travel more than just a few years in time, you are going to end up having to travel quite a distance in space as well. You're not going to just pop up in someone's bedroom.

The company I work for forbid anyone taking time off new years 2000 starting two years before in 1998.. but had to allow me off as I had book my vacation time for new years 2000 four years before in 1996

LOL. Same here. When I hired on, which was in 95 or so, I told my boss that I would insist on scheduling vacation for the week before and the week after Y2K at that time. I was the only person allowed to be on vacation.

John Titor, a young man from Kent,
His machine had a peculiar bent,
To save himself trouble
His singularities he’d double,
And instead of coming he went.

They routinely bring about $300-400 on eBay. But after a few years of Zimbabwe-style inflation, delivered by the Biden fake presidency, $15,000 could well be possible.
