In the last few weeks at half a dozen places (in NY- restaurant, bar, gym, shop) I’ve mentioned to the counter-person, staff and in 2 cases the proprietor that the emergency powers granted by the legislature to Cuomo (Thug-NY) expired April 30 and all executive orders issued there under have also expired and they were free do do as they please re: masks, full occupancy etc. None of them were aware. Isn’t it interesting that the mediawhores don’t mention this,....
A store is private property. A retail store, including grocery stores, are not public property and invite the public in.
Private property owners can ask and require you to do things like wear a shirt, wear shoes and wear pants or they can refuse you service. Any private company can refuse you service if that refusal is not predicated on discrimination.
At the same time the consumer can refuse to enter the store to make a purchase.
While not wearing shirt, shoes and pants may not be illegal (in some cases it is) it is not illegal to require masks be worn upon entering a retail outlet.
If you are so worried about someone wearing or not wearing a mask, there are plenty of ecommerce sites on the internet that don’t care what you wear when browsing through their store or when you go to make a purchase.
If it is private property, respect the wishes of the owner or just don’t go. It is that simple.
Ditto. A local grocery store still has the “masks required” sign at the entrance. Probably just so they can say they are abiding state mandates. But about 1/4 of the people in there are going without the face diapers. I was in an establishment that caters to adult beverages last week and they are 100% maskless. When asked, the bartender replied “No, we’re free here. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of this mask nonsense.
We haven’t worn masks, at any stores, or restaurants, since Abbott FINALLY ended the absurd mask mandates.
We see a mix of maskers/non-maskers, depending which part of the state we’re in.
Actually, it cant be enforced.
For some time now.
But a lot of tins are illegal and people still do them.
Seriously.
We went out to dinner in our favorite Chinese buffet last night, and the hostesses were pretty ham-handed about enforcing the mask requirement. But a couple of weeks ago we went to different buffet chain, and it was handled much more reasonably. Needless to say, I would go back to the latter establishment before I went back to the former.
Yes, it is enforceable:

Businesses that want to require PPE must have an approved PPE plan on file with Federal OSHA, probably state OSHA as well. There are OSHA regulations which a business must follow regarding PPE. Just a few: the business must supply the PPE, the business must provide PPE training, the business must have an auditable wastestream proper for the PPE. If you consider the virus a biohazard, your business needs to use a biohazard wastestream like medical offices. Non-compliance results in fines and possible shutdown. Before you get in the PPE business, know the law. You will be subject to Federal and State OSHA regulations. Most businesses are unaware of these laws because they have never required PPE. So,yes, sure a business can try to require masks, but are they complying with all Federal and State PPE regulations? Check your businesx insurance coverage as well. You will not be covered if your business is in violation of OSHA regulations.
Masks are so yesterday. Well over half of the adult population is vaccinated. We can save the masks for the big one. Maybe it will be called flubola or something like that. ;D

A grocery store Manager in Wisconsin told my Son if he came back into the store without a mask, they would call the Cops and have him arrested. Happened this past Saturday 5-8-2021.
a business can require masks, Bozo the Clown noses or whatever.
Seriously.
Then they will get very bad publicity, protested, canceled, lose business and be sued. Then they will change tune. They can’t just do whatever because it is a business. Come on now.
Just throwing this out there. I live in CA, arguably the home of all Karens ect. I have never worn a mask into any institution since the beginning. The only place to say anything was a neighborhood chevron gas station.
So while signs may be up, I suggest everyone just ignore them. If any employee creates a stink, just reply that you do not have a mask because you consider yourself a free American citizen.
So far no one has pushed me past this counterpoint. If they do, my plan is to either leave the store, or pull my shirt over my nose if I just have to complete that transaction.
Breathe free Americans, breathe free.
I went into Menard’s yesterday, and within seconds a store worker lady yelled at me for not wearing a mask. I promptly walked out. They don’t need my business.
You can be arrested or threatened to be arrested for a lot of things. Doesn’t make it right.
Compliance in our county in Montana is rapidly declining.
No shirt. No shoes. No service. This has been allowed from forever. Adding no mask is okay. FR has always been the bastion of the rights of private property.
omg. Stop whining. Shop somewhere else you clown.
I do not wear a mask anywhere... I go into Winn-Dixie and no one says anything to me...
