Businesses that want to require PPE must have an approved PPE plan on file with Federal OSHA, probably state OSHA as well. There are OSHA regulations which a business must follow regarding PPE. Just a few: the business must supply the PPE, the business must provide PPE training, the business must have an auditable wastestream proper for the PPE. If you consider the virus a biohazard, your business needs to use a biohazard wastestream like medical offices. Non-compliance results in fines and possible shutdown. Before you get in the PPE business, know the law. You will be subject to Federal and State OSHA regulations. Most businesses are unaware of these laws because they have never required PPE. So,yes, sure a business can try to require masks, but are they complying with all Federal and State PPE regulations? Check your businesx insurance coverage as well. You will not be covered if your business is in violation of OSHA regulations.
