The decision to get a Covid vaccine is not “Republican” nor “Democrat.” And more importantly the divide is not along “Pro-Science” or “Anti-Vax.”
There are plenty of individuals who have no problem getting flu shots or wearing masks, but are holding off on getting a Covid shot. There are parents who may get the Covid shot for themselves, but don’t want it for their children. Those who have had Covid already, may want to be vaccinated, but with an adjusted dose of antibodies, etc...
Most patients, before getting a prescription or even an OTC med like Tylenol, are given proper warning against contraindications, pre-existing conditions to be mindful of before starting a regimen...Or on a positive note: the additional benefits of the drug that might go beyond its main intent... (Example: Aspirin can treat pain AND help prevent heart attacks.)
Knowing that even the most extreme of adverse reactions are possible even with common drugs, does not preclude the vast majority of people from still taking them— but at least they are informed! So that they can make a decision based in their own risk/benefit analysis. And not FORCED into a corner one way or the other.
By contrast with these Covid shots, the media and medical establishment act more concerned with denying ANY link to contraindications, than to properly inform the public of the full scope of possibilities as evidence emerges in real time. And by relegating even the slightest concern to “anti vax” conspiracy, they remove themselves from any form of accountability in the process. To treat you accordingly, to warn you, to prepare for more people with similar outcomes. And most importantly: to improve the vaccines themselves!
And that is a problem. Especially if you or a loved one find yourself in that 5-10% who have more than a sore arm to contend with following your shot. Or end up with a bad case of Covid itself anyway.
That’s the worst part of it all: this underlying presumption that vaccines are the end all, be all in our arsenal to defeat Covid. Where does that leave the breakthrough cases? Why limit the treatment options?
It’s worth getting perspectives from a multitude of scientists. Not just the handful of mouthpieces running the show here.
The question of Freedom of Conscience ultimately underlies the whole debate.

Yes the “6 in six million” Johnson and Johnson clot “pause” was an exercise in theatrics. That number is false. And it’s not just clotting that is of concern.

Vaccinations do NOT cause COVID-19. And they do NOT make post vaccination COVID-19 cases “bad”. They do, for the less than 10% who don’t develop FULL IMMUNITY with vaccination, make almost all cases be mild rather than severe.
The left is out of control.
That policies that require vaccination are just driving a wedge in a society that is already polarized.
Most of those who are reluctant are people who don’t believe the media and government.....non-democrats
Wish I hadn’t gotten mine so I could not get it just in protest of forcing others to get it when risks possibly outweigh the harms in younger folks that have a 1,000-fold reduction of risk as compared to 75+ year olds.
Known issues are not swept under the rug. There was a nationwide recommendation to halt J&J administration at the mere possibility of a link to some blood clot issues (6 reported issues before the halt out of 7 million vaccinations).

Guidance on who should and should not receive the Pfizer and Moderna shots was provided after that issue emerged. Further, the 15 minute post-shot wait was established as a safety procedure to ensure there was no reaction.
Sore arms, fatigue, headaches, fever, and other symptoms observed following the shots have also been widely publicized. Nothing is being hidden.
Some wild claims are being made by people who want everyone to think the vaccines are dangerous. Some of them may just be conspiracy theorists who always want to find the conspiracy in everything. But we also know there’s an active disinformation campaign being run by China and Russia to scare people off of Western vaccines (Pfizer HQ is in NY, NY, Moderna is from Cambridge, MA, and J&J is from New Brunswick, NJ):

Everyone has the right to make their own decision about whether to get the vaccine now, later, or never. That’s 100% their right. But be aware that there’s a lot of false claims being made by people with an agenda. Stick to the facts; not the Chicken Littles of the world.
I don’t know about you, but I had a enough fearmongering about COVID-19 from the Democrats and the media all last year. What I don’t need now is more fearmongering about the vaccines from conspiracy theorists, anti-vaxxers, and Chinese agents.
An affluent society that can provide more than enough to meet the temporal needs of its members has little choice but to convince people they need totally unnecessary crap like this.
IMHO, the #1 problem among “hesitant” people is not that they are “anti-vax” it’s just that they don’t trust anyone in positions of power anymore.
The “pro-vax” political/media/medical establishment crowd is reading the tea leaves all wrong. It’s not about being anti-vax, it’s not about Trump, it’s not about availability or access (though that may be a small part of it). It’s that, “meh, you guys lie and cheat and flip-flop and waffle and send mixed messages so much that it’s impossible trust you. You used Covid as a political weapon, you withdrew availability of potential treatments, and then you rushed and jammed a couple of new vaccines out there while stifling most other research including other vaccines. You don’t give us honest answers to legitimate questions about anything at all. You are crazy deranged hateful people who show little respect to others. I think I’ll wait until the “science is settled” or just wait for the damn thing to go away”.
Number 1 for me is aborted baby cell lines. It’s demonic. The side effects and deaths come 2nd.

That’s something I just don’t personally know enough about (how the vaccines are made, and with what ingredients). But I think that fact alone falls under the “you guys lie all the time” umbrella. Just tell us the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
They are definitely trying to pit Americans against each other, as they always have done using race, class, social status, region of country... and now it’s “vax vs anti-vax” and even with some governors saying “If those 40% who refuse the vaccine don’t come around, then I’m going to punish the 60% of you who did get vaccinated”. In other words “you and him fight”.

I made it clear they that there is a 5-10% window of chance of the vaccines either a) triggering or contributing to an adverse outcome that doesn’t just disappear in a few days or b) someone vaccinated still getting sick with Covid anyway. I never said the vaccines CAUSE Covid. But breakthrough cases and even death from Covid can still occur. Fauci himself reminds us no vaccine is 100% effective.
Your whole exercise in trying to diminish my point precisely what’s wrong with the masses today. There may be disagreements on many things, but on the point about breakthrough cases (including some more than mild ones) — that’s something even the authorities acknowledge! Because again, no vax is 100% effective 100% of the time. Who knows what makes some people more susceptible to being in that 5% of people? But these people exist. And even the mainstream media acknowledges the fact.
I want to see more long term results.
I have essentially no risk from the virus at my age and in my health.
Let others be guinea pigs.
