Looks like The Today Show just may have committed what Rush Limbaugh used to call a “random act of journalism,” as Townhall reports.
They did a piece wondering why some of the states with the strictest restrictions in the country, like Michigan and New York, were now experiencing surges in the Wuhan coronavirus while the places which removed restrictions and dropped mandates, like Texas and Arkansas, had decreasing cases?
Some states with stricter rules are now seeing surges in COVID-19 cases, while many others that rushed to reopen are experiencing sizable drops. The numbers have experts scratching their heads. @SamBrockNBC has the details. pic.twitter.com/2uTTgb3dxG

Now, while they raised a good question, they didn’t come to a clear conclusion.
They theorized that perhaps it was less testing in the southern states. The problem with that argument is that if that were true then the hospitalizations and deaths would be going up as well and that doesn’t appear to be the case. For example, in Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott has reported deaths and hospitalizations continuing to drop.
Today Texas reported a 10-month low in the number of Texans testing positive for Covid.
We reported 3 Covid-related fatalities. That's the 2nd lowest in more than a year.
And hospitalizations decreased again to almost a 10-month low.
More than 250,000 Texans got a Covid shot.

They also theorized that younger people may be going to places like Miami and then bringing it back. But that also seems an odd conclusion, since they say that numbers in Miami have only increased slightly. The slight increase could be spring break behavior. But then, if people were “bringing it back,” why wouldn’t the numbers be higher in the unrestricted Miami than in the still restricted areas they were going back to?
They spoke about variants like the U.K. strain in Michigan and Minnesota. But they note that Florida also has the U.K. strain but hasn’t seen the same degree of spike as the surging states.
NBC noted when they discovered this phenomenon that it was people under 60 who were the majority of the new cases. That may, in part, be because of the concentrated effort to vaccinate older, more at-risk seniors.
But doctors say that patients seeking care this time around are younger and, notably, not as sick.
In New York, where cases are rising, some Covid-19 patients still require hospitalization, but the numbers of such patients are nowhere near the “astronomical” levels from a year ago, said Dr. Frederick Davis, an associate chair of emergency medicine at Northwell Health’s Long Island Jewish Hospital.
Now, Davis said, Covid-19 cases are mostly mild.
“The cases we are seeing are the younger groups that probably aren’t eligible for vaccines just yet,” Davis said.
In other words, while the cases might be going up in some of these areas, it’s with younger people and the cases are milder. Milder is a good thing.
Texas didn’t lift restrictions in a vacuum, they only did it after seeing numbers of hospitalizations and deaths continue to drop and since lifting the restrictions now a month ago, there hasn’t been any spike back up.
Now, Georgia is the next one to open up. The state has been averaging fewer than 1,400 new cases detected in recent days, the lowest level since last June.
LOL...I’m shocked, I tell you....shocked.....that they couldn’t find this out, without an investigative report.
At least they covered it, though.
Hint to NBC.....lib states.
Angle of incidence of the sun and UV rays.
Could it be the less restricted areas had people get it with mild symptoms and now are in a state of herd immunity. While the strict states are still yet to experience that? oh the science the ceince. the sssadsfitopsmmf.d
The answer is clear: Masks and lockdowns make it worse.
Vitamin D3.
I wouldn’t consider that NH has strict lockdowns.
We have a very loose mask mandate which actually seems to allow more people to not mask up than requires it. Stores and restaurants have been open for most of the pandemic and NH has had very little in economic loss as a result.
Anything and everything the left pushes is a lie or doesn’t work in reality. Period.
Likely our nipumbers come mostly from MA as seen on this map.

Sorry, I can’t figure out how to post the individual maps.
That was my thought also. They got exposed to small bits of it and by interacting with other humans, their immune system was ready, unlike the masked up distanced people in blue states.
Obviously herd immunity is the answer.
Are these “experts” dumbasses?
The vaccinations are not necessary.
It’s all a big scam to make money for drug companies and their invested and to control people via vaccinations.
Exactly
Somewhere in journalism Hell it is SNOWING!
I’m sure they won’t consider that the Deep South went through a “virtual lockdown” in February caused by record cold. As a direct consequence, a wide swath of the country was shut down with power and water outages. Businesses closed and everyone stayed home and shivered. The unintended result was several days of de facto quarantining that prevented any COVID transmission.
Now, I don’t think that’s entirely the reason but I bet it helped states like Texas and Arkansas. Probably had little to no effect on Florida though.
Actually observe the masked: worn with gaps around nose or under the nose, carelessly handled and stored, infrequently replaced or washed and, the biggest thing, of plain cloth that filters no pathogens, but only stops droplets.
Then, observe touching: touching store products others and cashiers and baggers have touched, touching door handles, touching mail others and carriers have touched, touching car surfaces touched on last outing, touching the mask after touching other things...
It is a joke upon ourselves, to anyone with an average IQ actually thinking about it.
I must believe that herd immunity is happening, more so in places with looser restrictions.
Because locking people indoors in close proximity to other people for most of the day is an ***ideal*** way to promote the spread of disease. It’s the exact reason flu season is in the winter...people stay inside due to the cold and pass around every infection they pick up at the grocery store or work.
Exactly, I have contended for a little while now that lockdowns and masks don’t work.
Before historical articles were scrubbed from the internet regarding the 1918 flu, they clearly outlined that masks didn’t work and isolations failed. What worked was moving severely ill patients to outside infirmaries with fresh air and sunshine. It worked for the flu back then and for TB! But all that historical science was scrubbed off the internet.
The lockdowns were to protect the hospitals from being overrun, not really to protect ourselves.
The real question is as I am watching what is happening in South America, Brazil in particular. They are in collapse at this point. What didn’t work there? They should have been in summer season while we were in winter? What failed. And as the illegals make their way here, do we need to be concerned with the variant they are bringing?
Same reason that for months St Louis accounted for 95% or more of MO’s cases/deaths. People in blue cities are liars, cheats and thieves. Hospitals shut down elective and non-emergency procedures and were heading fast into the red. Left leaning hospital admins, workers and coroners, who vote early and often, decided to just call everything covid to get the fedgov money paid per covid death. During 2020, they also got to make it look like Trump was failing on covid. Win, win.
I live in a recreational area 80 miles S/SE of St Louis and thousands of people from there come down here for the weekends. Many own recreational property. They also stayed here for MO’s 3 weeks of lockdown. They do not wear masks while here and most locals don’t either. For a couple of months, every Sunday our grocery store meat shelves were bare because the St Louians would buy it all up before they went home.
Yet for months, while St Louis had thousands of covid deaths, we didn’t have a single case even with thousands of them coming here every weekend.
There can be only one explanation. I bet the same thing happened in every big blue city. They called everything covid for the $$$ and in 2020, to make Trump look bad. Probably happened in blue suburbs where Karen lives too.
Great points.
Masks and lockdowns didn’t work in the black plague either.
