As companies grapple with their roles in contributing to racial equality and inequality, diversity and inclusion programs have taken on more importance in the corporate world.
But in retail, one well-regarded bicycle brand led by an industry legend is innovating a more direct approach to address racial inequality: reparations in the form of a 45% discount for Black customers.

I'll bet they can. Libs can puke up all the anti-discrimination/reparations/Afffirmative Action word salad they want, but if it lands in front of the SCOTUS at the end of the day, they'll have no choice but to follow the letter of the law. Discrimination is discrimination, regardless of where it's coming from. Imagine if U.S. vs. Rivendell was found in favor of the bicycle company - you think this country is divided now? I'll open the doors to absolute bedlam.
Anyone who isnt black who buys from this company is an idiot.
Let them make it with only black customers, see how they do. Thats what is going to happen to them.
Ok. If you’re in the market for a Rivendell bike (are they any good?), I’ll volunteer as a straw buyer for a small cut kickback. My question is, do I need blackface, or can I just self-identify?
Personally, I would be offended at the offer.
So show up with some Mexican friends and some Native American friends and demand these idiots give them the discount too and explain how Blacks are more deserving. Be sure to record it; it’ll be a hoot! :)
And that will stop them from stealing? I don’t get it.
Not sure today. One previous test was the kraft paper bag. If you were darker than the paper sack you were black.
Then there is the 1/1024th test.
Many times it's easy to see if something is right or wrong by turning it around as you point out here.
Are there rules that you actually have to be black or can you just identify as black?
What happens when the white customers feel screwed amd go elsewhere with their business?
If you are not 100% black, is the discount proportional to a person’s racial make up?
This is good news for me as I recently began identifying as a black lesbian.
Gibsmedat, honky.
You can practically smell the granola and marijuana...
And when BLM members go to you and want 100% discounts, whatcha-goin-to-do?
Maybe if they charged blacks only 3/5 of the regular price ....
Just one more company working hard to save me money. They are now on my do not do business with list.
Sue them for discrimination. Put them out of business.
So the discount is for blacks, all other customers pay full price and then some to make it up. Now will they keeping a database so that repeat customers get the discount again, how will they determine what blacks are really entitled to the discount or is it strictly by skin color?
OK, then I’ll price my company’s products the same: Blacks pay twice as much for being pains in the ass.
They make good bikes. I have one. I wont buy another
