This topic is inspired by the many what book / what music topics over the years, also by mairdie's cool vids of classical or jazz soundtracks over art montages.

Beyond Mombasa?!? Nothin' beyond it... ;^) I went easy on everyone and plucked a more recent, much shorter than his other, earlier live versions:

“Two years before the Mast”....that brings back memories...I’m talking 55 yrs ago...my mom had that book as part of her collection of books she picked up here and there...it was probably a first edition and had a very fine looking cover.....of course I didn’t read it...

I would like to see this thread keep going.

I have seen some great talent in my life. I lived in Austin in the 80s. I used to work at Austin City Limits for a while and got to meet and shake hands with some famous people.

SRV
Eric Johnson
Willie Nelson
Ted Nugent
etc...

I was even in the movie Barborsa with Willie.

Been watching My brilliant Friend on HBO. A series about two girls from poverty growing up in post war Italy. The actresses are perfect as they change the cast as they age. The characters well drawn. i’m sicilan and i recognize the people and the culture.

The girls are not bright and we will see if and how they can escape their environments.

Two seasons passed and i an anxious for season 3. So I went to Amazon and ordered the third of four books about their lives. Here it is. you can order the first two books or stream HBO if you have access.

Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay: Neapolitan Novels, Book Three

Liking Liar on Sundance. Penny Dreadful City of Angels and Billions on Showtime. HBO Movie Bad education interesting based on real events. Good cast. City of London about organized crime from the war till the Kray brothers.

There's been a big groundswell of "reaction" vids on YT the past year or two -- people with channels where they do nothing but post their reactions to other YT content (and face it, much ot YT's content is pirate, arrrrr). Yesterday I watched a guy react to one of SRV's solos from an Austin City Limits appearance, they reactor had never heard SRV before. I saw SRV perform but once, he appeared to be a little hammered, and he still burned 99% of everyone who's ever played guitar, oh, and I think it also set the auditorium on fire, because everyone had to run for our lives as it burned down. Okay, I made up that last part, but it was a great show!
