The pastor of a Tampa megachurch is facing charges after refusing to close its doors despite a safer at home order in effect in Hillsborough County, meant to stop the spread of COVID-19. The sheriff says up to 500 people were in attendance at Pastor Rodney Howard-Brownes Sunday services.
Howard-Browne, 58, turned himself in Monday afternoon after Sheriff Chad Chronister and State Attorney Andrew Warren on Monday announced an arrest warrant had been issued for charges of unlawful assembly and violating public health emergency rules of isolation and quarantine. Howard-Browne was released 40 minutes later after posting a $500 bond.
Some of Howard-Brownes colleagues in the evangelical community also said that they will not obey the social distancing.
A conservative Christian pastor Jonathan Shuttlesworth is one of them.
He issued an angry rebuke of churches taking measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, calling them sissies and pansies who have been neutered.
Jonathan Shuttlesworth, a televangelist who co-founded Revival Today TV, called out European churches that are taking measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
He promised to hold a large Woodstock-like Christian gathering in defiance of stay-at-home orders.
Shuttlesworth said:
Im gonna announce it, that were gonna hold an outdoor Easter blowout service, not online. A national gathering. People come from all over, like Woodstock, and were gonna gather and lift up Jesus Christ. Im not ashamed that Dr. Rodney got arrested. Im ashamed that when they wanted to arrest preachers for having church in an entire state, there was only one to come for.

During the HIV pandemic gays were not restricted from “congregating”.
HIV isn’t airborne, so unless there’s a massive orgy, they won’t be spreading it much.
Thou should not tempt God...............
As a sign on a local church read:
Always trust God.
But wash your hands....................
Yeah I PRAY that if a gun was put to my head by a muzzie or dem and I was told to renounce my faith, I would say a prayer and take the bullet.
But I don’t think God want us to risk our lives and the lives of others and don’t think hell is in store for staying home a month.
I have been Ardently against the overreaction.
But a mass gathering?
Our God isn’t a cruel or vengeful God unless really pushed, I think.
Abortion is doing that. Trying to stay safe and much more so trying to protect the old and sick from catching this thing from you doesn’t seem unreasonable.
A sermon on the mount.
A sermon on the mount.
LOL!!!
Part of me agrees with the preacher, and the other part does not.
But, what about the religion of hate? Any bans on they meeting?
Just askin’ because methinks I know the answer.
Which, if correct, really p*sses me off!!
Oops, excuse my journalism moment.
“They meeting”?? Bad me, bad me. Send me to CNN.
Wonder how this pastor reconciles his actions with Romans 13:1-7?
He is a nut-job
“If youre putting out pamphlets and telling everybody to use Purell before they come into the sanctuary and dont greet anyone, you should just turn in your ministry credentials and burn your church down turn it into a casino or something. Youre a loser Bunch of pansies. No balls. Got neutered somewhere along the line and dont even realize it.”
This is stupid and dangerous. Its not like there is anything stopping you with praying from home. It would be a selfish act to attend something like this since you can carry the virus and can be contagious without knowing you are sick. Selfishness is as far from Christian as you can get.
God does not stop people from doing stupid things............
See King Josiah of Judah. He was a very good king, but did a stupid thing....................

Florida’s DeSantis issues statewide stay-at-home order to curb coronavirus
It would be prudent to obey lawful authority in this situation
My brain says things like; "Hey Danny, there's a train coming you should get off the tracks." "Hey Danny, there's a bad virus spreading towards your neighborhood. Stock up and find a way to work from home."
People ignore their brains at their peril.
God can deliver from being run over by a train or a virus. But if you're stupid enough not to take precautions, all bets are off on whether he will or not.
"The prudent see trouble coming and seek refuge. The simple continue and pay the penalty." Prov 22:3
Why do you think this is being offered outdoors? Maybe so people can social distance?
