Not so long ago, there was a fun party at Zoo Atlanta: their gorilla Anaka celebrated her 6th birthday. To commemorate the joyous occasion, the employees at the facility snapped a couple of pics of the big girl and shared them on Facebook. People started sending their best wishes. However, while congratulating Anaka, those who were more observant noticed an interesting detail

Looks human, at least for someone who eats the recommended amount of carbs.

It starts with the fingers, next thing you know he will look like the 2009+ Michael Jackson.

Appears that gorilla has vitiligo. Such is a common pattern of pigment loss in humans with that, where it is a fairly common disease (~0.5% incidence.)

Interestingly (for me) the moonwalk was invented in the 1950s by a dancer named Adalberto Martrinez AKA “Resortes.”
MJ just stole it. You can find videos of the original on YT.

It goes back to the days of vaudeville and probably predates that era. Marcel Marceau became famous for it when he mimed a man struggling against the wind. I recall seems film of Fred Astaire doing it in the 1930s and he picked it up from others in vaudeville.

Yep — just tossing in a fun fact.
Kirkwood says it goes back before that, even :)

Snatched the glasses right off my face
Took the keys to my BMW
Left me here to take his place
