Who wants to participate in a music play-off bracket-type poll for best songs of the '70s?
3 years ago I ran a "tournament" to pick the best songs of the '80s, based first on Billboard rankings, so only the best of the best are included!
You can view how this played out here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3249477/posts
That's what I want to do for the '70s.
(Wouldn't mind doing it for other decades, either!)

Anyone in? I will create a ping-list to ensure everyone who is interested is notified of round results and new rounds, etc. (This would not exclude anyone from voting, just ensure many people would vote.)
To: MayflowerMadam; Fiji Hill; patriot08; Ammo Republic 15; MadMax, the Grinning Reaper; ...
Pinging a few who had ‘70s interest as well as my old 80s ping!
Please consider joining for a tournament of the best ‘70s songs!

Hoping to get it started before long.

The 70’s were pretty much ruled by, ‘The Jackson Five.’ Are we SURE we want to go there? ;)
I’ll Be There
ABC
The Love You Save
But I will vote for ‘Ride, Captain Ride’ by Blues Image because I remember it being one of the first 45’s I ever bought. ;)
Second runner up?
‘Indiana Wants Me’ by Dean Taylor

We start with the top 7 of each year, and end up with bracket play-offs using 64 songs from them. All based on Billboard year-end charts. No bias here, just real popularity, basically.
The 1st weeks of the tournament/contest are the most intense as they involve the most songs to compare, then it whittles down from there to the top 2 “Super Bowl” for the championship. Could be a couple months before this finishes.
And I’ll give you a hint: only 2 Jackson5 songs at the start!

It’s not fair to any of you.
I’ll play if you want, but your loss will be devastating psychologically.
Some will mumble.
Some will drool and sputter nonsense.
Others will go on the road as a Pelosi impersonator to much rejection.

Best decade of music ever! Count me in...

Billboard disagrees on the Jackson Five. Maybe it depends on one’s age ;D
Bee Gees, Elton John and McCartney ruled the ‘70s. Who could guess ‘You Light Up My Life’ was probably the single most popular song of the ‘70s?

LOL sorry, it’s not a game of the players, it’s a game for the songs!
Our votes on Billboard-rated songs will decide best songs!

Sorry to say, but they will not be doing well. They’re not top 7 of any year, so won’t be in!
