The 70’s were pretty much ruled by, ‘The Jackson Five.’ Are we SURE we want to go there? ;)
I’ll Be There
ABC
The Love You Save
But I will vote for ‘Ride, Captain Ride’ by Blues Image because I remember it being one of the first 45’s I ever bought. ;)
Second runner up?
‘Indiana Wants Me’ by Dean Taylor
We start with the top 7 of each year, and end up with bracket play-offs using 64 songs from them. All based on Billboard year-end charts. No bias here, just real popularity, basically.
The 1st weeks of the tournament/contest are the most intense as they involve the most songs to compare, then it whittles down from there to the top 2 “Super Bowl” for the championship. Could be a couple months before this finishes.
And I’ll give you a hint: only 2 Jackson5 songs at the start!
Billboard disagrees on the Jackson Five. Maybe it depends on one’s age ;D
Bee Gees, Elton John and McCartney ruled the ‘70s. Who could guess ‘You Light Up My Life’ was probably the single most popular song of the ‘70s?
The Jackson 5 weren't even in the Top 100 of hits of the 1970's!
Don’t forget the putrid and crapnificent “Ben”
The seventies also gave us New Wave, punk, and sadly even Rap.
