When Mount Vesuvius erupted and buried the Italian city of Pompeii in ash, killing 2,000 people, it was regarded as one of the most catastrophic natural disasters and is still studied heavily today. By comparison, a nearby supervolcano called Campi Flegrei, which means burning fields, would put the lives of 500,000 Italians at risk and cause damage that would extend to the surrounding nations.

I guess, Global Warming?
Women and minorities will be hardest hit.
Send Manbearpig with a thermometer with a millions scale to personally measure the temps.
I’d better run out and buy a Prius with Save Tibet, Coexist and I’m For Hillary stickers on it!!
Bush’s ... er ... Trump’s fault!
Vesuvius erupted during WWII, destroying, but mostly damaging 100+ US planes. Lots of B-25s.
Man-made lava? I suppose. OTOH, as the video commenters sort of pointed out, the researchers would have a bit more control over the toxicity of the lava.
Earth abides...
And if it does decide to blow will a hefty carbon tax be levied upon Italia?
The absurdity of the political demands au jour forces me to ask that question.
Prius with Save Tibet, Coexist and Im For Hillary stickers on it!!.............
I saw a Prius with a Bernie 2016 sticker over the holidays.
Took a picture for a keepsake when I need a laugh.
One of the super volcanoes goes off, any of them, and except for those within range of being incinerated by the ash and rock fall, warming will be the very last thing we will have to worry about. Growing food without sunlight and not freezing to death in a year or two long winter will suddenly be a top priority.
Putin is behind this.
Buy grape futures.
“Thankfully, the scientists are watching the movements 24 hours a day to determine what the risks are and those affected by the disaster will hopefully be given ample time to evacuate.”
Evacuate to where, Mars??
Ann Barnhardt predicts the destruction of Rome. Literal destruction—i.e., the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s, the whole thing.
Campi Flegrei, like Yellowstone, is a volcano without a visible cone. While near Mt. Vesuvius, it may or may-not share lava connections to it. That entire area of Italy has multiple inactive volcanos with a worrisome potential due to the African tectonic plate moving north.
Should a typical super-volcano fissure eruption occur there, you would have multiple lines of erupting fissures making Naples and that area near uninhabitable. Lots of things to be concerned about if this danger comes to pass.
Damned Russians, now they’re hacking the earth itself!
Don't forget the Islamic invaders.
