Civil Rights Group Says Park Rangers Uniforms Are Threatening To Latinos For ABSURD Reason By Jeff Rainforth
A coalition of lawmakers and civil rights groups has a message for the National Park Service: your uniforms and vehicles are very threatening to Latinos.
Maite Arce of the Hispanic Access Foundation delivered the really tough message during a press conference on Thursday:
Its such a shame that something as simple as the uniform and its similarity to the border patrols uniform in the coloring could be very threatening to certain segments of the Latino population. So a discussion about that is going to be really tough.
The coalition made multiple recommendations to the Park Service, including:
Assess the cultural implications of existing agency uniforms, offices, signage, and other facilities. For example, the Park Service law-enforcement vehicles look like those used by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and uniforms have law enforcement connotations, both of which present a significant impediment to engaging all Americans.
Review names of sites throughout system for cultural bias. Some may require comprehensive name changes to reflect a broader and more inclusive history.
The coalition is asking President Obama to issue an executive order directing the Department of Interior and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to adopt guiding priorities for a more inclusive approach to National Parks.

We must roll over our culture, our beliefs and our mores to uncultured invaders to our country.
Next on the list of threatening attire,
Orange jumpsuits.

Threatening only to illegal alien Latinos.
To anyone who advocates changing the name of a place - when that name is historically accurate and decades in place - in order to "reflect a broader and more inclusive history.":
Erasing history is exactly opposed to the bullcrap you cite as your motivation. Changing these names is erasing history. It would be better to erase your name from the list of people in the United States (no matter where you came from).
I don’t believe there are really that many who are truly offended. It’s just another card in their victimhood deck and boy do they like to play with that deck. Just like women, blacks and gays like to play with theirs.
Where's the Supreme Court on THIS sh**? Where's MY justice? Where's the dialog about MY feelings?
I'm going to my safe space. If you need me don't call me.
OMG.....the uniforms are threating! Quick, all illegal latinos run to your safe place now......
I understand it’s located just outside of Mexico city.....
Hurry!
Obama still has almost nine months to deal with this. The Park Service can be in rainbow uniforms before Inauguration Day.
“Its just another card in their victimhood deck and boy do they like to play with that deck. Just like women, blacks and gays like to play with theirs”....
...and you can add the victimhood deck for Muslims to the list.
So wait a minute. Is he saying Latinos are, in general, threatened by the notion of border patrol? Gosh, that sounds an awful lot like a racial generalization, like he thinks most Latinos are or are somehow connected to illegals. If I made such an inference I'd be immediately labeled racist.
Oh, and BTW, a uniform is supposed to convey authority and command at least some modicum of respect. Is this guy making yet another generalization about Latinos that they have problems with authority? Gee, are you really sure this guy is trying to help Latinos? 'Cause he sure sounds like he doesn't think much of them...
1) Park Rangers should be restricted to those needed for policing only.
2) Everything else regarding the running of the national parks should be privatized.
If not for our civilizing influence, those savage primitives would be cutting out still-beating hearts from atop step pyramids to this day.
Of course that is the case. But they could have only been referring to illegals, as legal aliens have nothing to get concerned about. But the numbers that get deported versus the numbers that don’t means that even illegals rarely give it much consideration.
Indeed!.....That is why Park Rangers should be restricted to policing only.
When everything looks like a cop then the authority aspect of the uniform is rendered less effective.
1) Restrict Park Rangers to policing activities only.
2) All all other management duties of national parks should be outsourced to private companies through contracts made through a bidding process.
In art we have an expression, “ Everything is Nothing”. When everyone looks like a cop then no one does.
