Day in and day out our hands and feet take a beating. Out of all our body parts they are perhaps the most used ones, making problems and issues that develop with them inevitable. Feet in particular are often overlooked and many of us will have to deal with calluses, cracked heels, toenail fungus, and dead skin at some point in our lives. These things can grow worse over time and it's best to treat them right away, before what was once a simple case turns into a nightmare of a problem.
There are all sorts of gels, creams, sprays, and soaks available at pharmacies and stores that promise to treat foot issues but they are often ineffective and extremely harsh. The chemicals and poisons they contain can have even worse effects on your body than the problem you're trying to treat, so it's best to avoid them at all costs. Instead, try this at home remedy that can clean your feet up and leave them smelling minty fresh.
All that you need is a shallow tub or container big enough to fit your feet, a bottle of Listerine, vinegar, and some warm water. In the tub combine a 1/2 cup of Listerine with 1/2 cup of vinegar and 2 cups of warm water. Stick your feet in the liquid and allow them to soak for at least 30-35 minutes, then after you remove them, rinse them off in the bath under warm running water. Make sure to completely dry in between your toes and smooth on some lotion because your skin will be thirsty for moisturizer.
This Listerine and vinegar foot soak will leave your skin feeling incredibly soft and silky smooth. It gently dissolves away old, dead skin cells and helps to prevent both toenail fungus and calluses. The alcohol in the mouthwash effectively kills all of the bacteria and germs on feet and under toenails, which is the main cause of most people's foot odor. However, it only helps with minor problems and won't work so well with more serious or advanced foot issues that often require a doctor.
This treatment is incredibly simple, easy, and can be done in the comfort of your home anytime. Think about it like this; you have nothing to lose and potentially lots to gain by giving yourself a relaxing foot soak. At the very least you will feel more at ease and comfortable, plus your feet will smell great. Try it today and pass this along to others to help them find comfort and better health in their own lives!
I do this without the mouthwash. Got tired of turning my feet blue.
Works great. This I use one of those pedicure eggs.
I thought vinegar was the trick. Learn something new everyday.
And for those of you - like me - who are prone to stick your foot in your mouth from time to time - the Listerine works on your breath too.
Thanks!
Put your feet and hands in a mixture of olive oil and cooked oatmeal for the same time and your skin will be baby soft.
Should kill toenail fungus too but I've never had that problem.
Many a Black eye are caused by an open mouth
Thanks for this. For Christmas I got one of those PerfectPedi kits for my feet (I think that was the name of it). I usually soak in Epson Salt foot bath and use it (sort of like a Dremel tool) on my calluses. I use Cetaphil in the morning and medicated lotion at night. This has made a world of difference. My feet almost look normal again. I’ll try the Listerine trick as well.
I grew up on a farm and had to wear rubber irrigation boots in the summer. at the end of the week my feet stank like a fine french cheese.
to solve this i would take a 5 gallon bucket, full it 1/2 full or warm water and put in a cup of bleach and soak in front of the TV for an hour or two, My feet were then fresh for Sunday morning church.
One capful of bleach per 16 oz of water. Got rid of my Athletes foot in a week.
Reason #1: Sell More Listerine!
Just don't be a cheapskate and pour the solution back into the Listerine bottle. Or at least if you have the decency to tell your spouse...
Toenail fungus....Even Dollar store Listerine works but you have to be patient.
Vicks vaporub will take care of minor toe jam over time. Makes the feet all tingly too.
Oh wow. That is great.
From the Listerine website:
Alcohol (EtOH) content: 26.8%
That makes Listerine ~54 Proof
Maybe they should age it in oak barrels?
LOL
Until PoPo pulls you over and asks:
“Have you had anything to drink today?”
I prefer Scope.
