Biometric Database tucked inside Gang of Eight immigration bill

by Conservative Action Alerts on May 31, 2013

ALERT: The Gang of Eight’s comprehensive immigration plan will destroy individual privacy via biometric database.

American Conservative,

Last Tuesday, the Senate Judiciary Committee passed their markup of the Gang of Eight’s “immigration reform” bill – a version that not only preserves most of the bill’s original problems, but also contains 233 additional pages of rules.

Senator Ted Cruz says that the bill only makes our current immigration problems “worse.” Sadly, he holds the minority opinion as he was one of only five Senate Judiciary Members who opposed S. 744′s exit from committee.

Snip----

Page 1,318 of the markup bill details the establishment of a “photo tool” – a giant federal database managed by the Department of Homeland Security, supplied with individuals’ biometric information from all of the fifty states.

If established, the database would house a file for every person carrying a driver’s license or equivalent state-issued photo I.D., and contain their name, age, Social Security number, along with their photograph.

This database would also determine whether or not one is permitted to find employment. In other words, without becoming an entry in a federal database, Americans will be unable to secure a job or freely work where and as they choose!

“The Secretary shall develop and maintain a photo tool that enables employers to match the photo on a covered identity document provided to the employer to a photo maintained by a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services database.” (S. 744, page 1,319.)

I remember when you did not need a Social Security Number until you started working. Now when a child is born a number will be issued.

When do I have to apply for a Social Security number for my newborn?
Answer:

There’s no time limit on applying for a Social Security number for your newborn. However, you may want to do it right away, because you’re required to include a child’s Social Security number on your tax return to claim that child as a dependent.

Have that baby in a hospital and tell them you might not need one because you’re not going to put that baby as a tax deduction and guess what happens next...

They threaten to call social services and prevent you from leaving the hospital with that baby.

That’s right, having a child without a social security number is right up there with actual abuse in their teeny little statist minds.

Report: 9 Internet Firms Giving Data to Government
Thursday, June 6, 2013 06:53 PM

By: Greg Richter

It’s not just your cell phone calls. Nine Internet companies have been giving your emails, videos, photos and more to the NSA and FBI, The Washington Post reports.

The classified program PRISM began in 2007 and has signed on Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube, and Apple. Cloud storage website Dropbox is set to join soon.

PRISM has become the biggest contributor to President Barack Obama’s Daily Brief, the Post reports, with a total of 1,447 articles in 2012. One in seven intelligence reports are based on PRISM data.

The program descends from a program in the 1970s in which 100 American companies worked with the government, though PRISM is more like the controversial warrantless surveillance efforts undertaken after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Good stuff, thanks.
I don’t want to ‘buccal-swabbed’ because my tail light burned-out and the cop has some time on his hands.

Flashback: Obama Railed Against Monitoring Citizens Who Did Nothing Wrong

I suppose someone who does not like where that DNA ruling is taking us leaked the NSA story to the Guardian?

The timing is interesting anyhow.

I was just thinking that this morning.

Which makes me wonder what sort of stuff is discernable from DNA that we haven’t been told just yet...

Schools scanned students’ irises without permission

Edited time: May 31, 2013 16:37

Parents in Polk County, Florida are outraged after learning that students in area schools had their irises scanned as part of a new security program without obtaining proper permission.

Students at three facilities — an elementary school, a grade school and a high school — had their eyeballs scanned earlier this month as part of a ‘student safety’ pilot program being carried out by Stanley Convergent Security Solutions.

“It simply takes a picture of the iris, which is unique to every individual,” Rob Davis, the school board’s senior director of support services, wrote home to parents in a letter dated May 23. “With this program, we will be able to identify when and where a student gets on the bus, when they arrive at their school location, when and what bus the student boards and disembarks in the afternoon. This is an effort to further enhance the safety of our students. The EyeSwipe-Nano is an ideal replacement for the card based system since your child will not have to be responsible for carrying an identification card,” he added.

LYING TO CONGRESS?

Clapper denied NSA surveillance before Senate panel. “Weeks before the National Security Agency (NSA) began a massive phone sweeping operation on U.S. cellular provider Verizon,

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told Congress the agency does not conduct intelligence on American citizens. Testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Clapper denied allegations by panel members the NSA conducted electronic surveillance of Americans on U.S. soil.”

My wife and some people gives me the business when they see that unless I absolutely have to I do not buy anything with a credit card, I use cash everywhere. When places ask me for email address or phone number I decline or make one up. I do not use my phone to call or text except to check on status of a child or wife, we do not chat. I do not call friends or text them I talk in person like we did when I GREW UP.

The only place online I frequent is here (FR), which has probably gotten me on enough lists as is.

Your cellphone helps the powers that be pinpoint your geographic location with high precision. The radio signals between your phone and three nearby cellphone towers is what triangulation is all about.

Hmmm...where have we read about something like this becoming a reality?

Unable to buy, sell, work, etc. unless your "mark" is in their data base?

If anyone wants to be on or off the Agenda 21 ping list, please notify me by Freepmail. It is a relatively low volume list in which we have been exploring the UN Agenda21 and related topics. We have collected our studies with threads, links, and discussions on the Agenda 21 thread which can be found here:
