Hurricane Sandy victims in Staten Island are suffering far more than is being reported. Wont you please help?
We need help feeding our neighbors whose lives have been destroyed. We need your prayers as well. The Red Cross and FEMA are doing very good work, but even they are falling behind.
I am a volunteer at a relief center set up by and for ordinary Staten Islanders with no government help. We are retired New York City Police Officers and Firemen. We serve 800 to 1000 meals a day from our own pockets and the generosity of other ordinary people.
I know you are not hearing and/or seeing much about Staten Island in the media, but the devastation is much worse than any single entity can fix without help.
Staten Island is a suburban county within New York City, but that is the extent of our connection to The City. The section of Staten Island I am asking for help for is largely single family homes whose owners are mainstream Middle America.
We need help; please help us. We have craftsmen from around the nation working 24 X 7 to bring homes back on line (no we are not all on line yet as the media would suggest) but we need food and or money for food.
Anyone wishing to make a donation that will go 100% to feeding Midland Beach Sandy victims can send a check to: Hurricane Relief Fund c/o Knights of Columbus Staten Island Council 1662 22 Hillside Terrace Staten Island NY 10308
We dont need clothes. The region and the nation have opened their hearts and closets to provide enough warm clothes for now.
We need food and or money for food. To help feed victims who have nothing, no home or belongings - really nothing because they ran out of their homes in knee deep water into the night during a raging storm.
One restaurant owner who has been helping us feed people at the Midland Beach Relief Center is Eddie Canlon. Eddie won the Thanksgiving Day episode of the Food Channels Chopped and is a man who is always there to help others.
You can contact any Staten Island restaurant but Eddie Canlon has already started donating his own money and services to feed hungry Midland Beach Staten Island victims. You can contact Canlons restaurant at: 718 667 3013 1825 North Rail Road Ave SI NY 10306
Arrange to pay for as many or as few food trays as you wish to be delivered to Midland Beach Relief Center 1126 Olympia Blvd (at Lincoln Ave) SI 10306 and Canlons will take it from there.
Separate issue: if anyone wants to just write a letter of encouragement to Midland Beach victims they can write to the Midland Beach Relief Center 1126 Olympia Blvd (at Lincoln Ave) SI 10306. Letters of this kind even from strangers can put a smile of weary faces even if for just a little while.
Would you please circulate this appeal for help for Staten Island victims of hurricane Sandy?
You can count on this

Lord and Savior Obama will descend from the clouds and bring comfort and joy to everyone.
And how do we know that’s a “heavily GOP area?”
Thanks for posting.
We’ve sent everything we can to a Christian Appalachian group to aid those whose livelihoods have been trashed this year by the Obama Admin policies on coal and energy.
They voted for Romney. That did influence my decision.
Tapped out for sure right now.
May I suggest a large coalition of victims in your area hold a press conference and be clear about the situation. I would also recommend that you blame Bush and praise Obama, that way media will actually show up for the presser.

If Hussein doesn’t want to be POTUS for the whole Country, then we should get to ignore his edicts. He’s never been, and NEVER WILL BE MY POTUS!
The Red Cross and FEMA are doing very good work, but even they are falling behind.
Better let the Food Stamp President know of your problem. If the Red Cross and FEMA are doing such a good job, why are they falling behind. Might want to hire some black people and provide them with signs to protest outside Mayor no 32oz drinks office.
Man, all those property taxes and no help. Typical liberal government.
Stanne,
Here is the thread I mentioned in my freep-mail.
I think this is legit.
I will check further.
Where are the Knights gathering on Midland Ave?
The numbers don’t lie. Staten Island is mostly Rat. They can sit there.
Shep Smith said suck it up, that’s what I do while wearing the union label.
The Knights are the first ones I thought of. They are a solid organization.
Thanks for this.
I know Staten Island was forgotten in this. All anyone needs to know is that Bloogerg had to be dragged kicking off of his plan to congregate the Marathon runners ON Staten Island THE week of the Hurricane, block away form death and destruction.
No reason to think he or anyone has been more attentive in the meantime.
Thanks for the contact.
I agree The New Yawkers voted 70-30 for the punk POTUS. Give him a call for help.
If you’re going to be a cheap f*** and a small-minded asshat just say so...don’t hide who you are behind phoney political rationalization. Or better yet, just STFU.
Sorry, I didn’t read carefully and missed the reference to Lincoln Ave. (Which for other Freepers, is parallel to Midland Ave - check Google Maps)
I suspect that some of our FR brothers and sisters don’t have a clue about the area and people who you are helping. Even if they were Obamma supporters, they are still children of God, and they need help to get back on their feet.
As others have mentioned, Staten Island used to be referred to as a “blue collar” area. The beach areas, in particular are full of honest hard working people. They work their tails off to pay a mortgage and pay tuition to keep their kids out of public schools. Most of their “wealth” is what eve requity they might eventually have in their homes. Many can’t afford to retire on SI.
Shame on those who encourage others to not help, even if it were true that the folks in need voted for 0bammy.
I ask them to not discourage help to others, and, at least, say a prayer for those in need

“The numbers dont lie. Staten Island is mostly Rat. They can sit there.” Here are the numbers: this area of Staten Island always elects 2 of only 49 Republicans in the New York State Assembly. Staten Island sends one of only 31 Republican State Senators to Albany. There are 4 GOP City Council members and the devastated side of Staten Island is represented by one of them. There is only one Republican NYC Congressman and he represents Staten Island.
The numbers for this election are still not settled. Obama won election night, but 14% of the Republicans from the hardest hit area were too busy trying to sta alive to vote. There are about 18,000 paper ballots to be counted and the hard hit area where Republicans live anounts for about 60% of them.
When Obama came to Staten Island a man from the hardest hit area, during a taped interview said to Obama, “I’m a Democrat and a union shop steward. I did not vote for you, but thanks for coming.”
So please take your childish anti EVERYTHING New York bile and go check YOUR numbers. Let’s see where the lies are. How’s that?
