Been watching the Trayvon threads closely, and following the news. It is mere curiosity on my part, watching how both sides set the narrative, or at least attempt to. Some guy kills another in Florida - how does that impact me?
Yet it did.
I am not going to even try to minimize the total horror George Zimmerman is going through right now. Hunted and vilified for protecting his life and his community and with a totally illegal bounty on his head.
Innocent people forced to flee their homes thanks to one idiot who couldn't be bothered to check the facts before running to his keyboard. Money, and my respect to Spike Lee for doing the honest thing as fast as possible, is no substitute for being safe and happy in your own home.
Reprehensible, both of them.
Yet on the other side, we have a dead kid. I don't care how he was dressed, a 17 year old is not normally one you would trust to run good judgement in a bad situation. My personal read is it was a pushy pushy that got out of hand - you may think different.
According to the reports and threads, he certainly wasn't the best kid in the world. He wasn't a demon either. The kid was 17.
The whole story is about fear. George was doing his job, the one he volunteered for, to protect his specific community. You are never off duty from that, like a cop or a marine is never off duty. He saw a suspicious character, followed him for a little bit and reported him to the cops. Can you think of anyone in your neighborhood that would not do the same? Folks get robbed often enough they fight back.
Now, take Trayvon.
Went to the store, walking home, and some guy stops his truck, gets out and starts following him, talking on the phone all the while. That is some scary stuff.
The results we know. Fear and suspicion on BOTH sides left one person dead and one person in fear of his life.
That is why, on the holiest day of the year, I am praying hard. Not for Zimmerman, but for Trayvon Martin.
He was still a person. Someone's much loved son. Forget the media circus for a second. They both deserve our prayers.
The guy who wrote a book that helped bring me back to the Christ was a gangbanger - Nicky Cruz.

No crap. That’s probably just about it and an apt description of everyone and his it possibly spun out of control.
Trayvon had done nothing wrong. Then he sucker punched a Neighborhood Watch Captain.
It is very unfortunate that in the struggle over the CCW that Zimmerman had in his holster, that someone pulled the trigger while the gun was pointed at Martin.
These things do happen, though, more than you know. Now, why is this one news?
Because it’s the only time a Hispanic Neighborhood Watch Captain shot a young Negro.
And yet, most of the public can’t see the forest for the trees.
It is news because of it’s rarity. BECAUSE OF IT’S RARITY.
Prayers for both. I wish the exploitation would stop. My tagline says how I feel about the way this is being used and abused.
Time to start praying for the majority of the Black community and hope that they can change their way of living. Black on black crime, Black unwed mothers, Black men who think that taking care of a family is a “white” thing...and so on.
You signed up a year ago just post this?
Praying will not help. They have prayed for freedom for years and are now enjoying it to the max. No law, no responsibility, free stuff
No one, no one from the liberal side of this race-baiting feint has been able to succinctly explain just exactly what this 17 year old, gold-tooth angel was doing in a gated community, in the rain, when he was supposedly out to get some "skittles".....BS all the way round if you aks me.
Unfortunately when I look at the Black community all I see is barbarianism. Not all, but the majority. I see lack of education, drugs, filth, crime, all dominated by lack of sexual control. Even the children.
This is hardly my only post on here.
Some of my responses have been (rightly) removed, since I have a minor problem with acceptable language, but the rest - threads, blogs and comments are right there.
I agree with the author that “this is about fear”.
Martin wanted to put some ‘fear’ into the Neighborhood Watch Captain for ‘dissing him’ while he was out establishing his ‘pissing territory’ (and before you think I’m racist, I’ll say most young males of all races do the same ‘type’ of thing).
Martin could have called 911 or simply finished walking home. He had ‘lost’ Zimmerman. But he chose ‘violence’ instead.
He emulated the culture he grew up with, and their mainstay is violence.
If anyone is to blame for Trayvon’s death, it is the ‘black’ culture, and those who profit from the deaths it creates. (Like gangsta rap celebrities and Trayvon’s mom)
As far as you having forgiveness for both parties in this unfortunate incident, how dare I or anyone criticize you for being Christian.
Hey, anyone who has the wisdom to read and learn for a year before making their first post earns my respect.

BS -
Most young males don’t “do the same thing”. White kids don’t punch strangers.
Black kids do. And that is the difference in this equation.
I see the same thing on MTV and VH1.
Now, take Trayvon.
Went to the store, walking home, and some guy stops his truck, gets out and starts following him, talking on the phone all the while. That is some scary stuff.
You forgot to mention he was coming off a school suspension and had a history of theft and narcotics.
You also forgot to mention little Trayvon was beating Zimmerman’s head into the ground.
By the way, would you happen to know the name of the establishment where he purchased the tea and skittles? Oddly enough, the media hasn’t reported this. You would think they would interview the clerk so we could hear what a wonderful customer he was.
I see it at the local CVS and mall.
Staying with his father. Succinct enough? This is news to you?
Actually, it is. What little I deign to see of the leftist media, or read about in more conservative forums actually spells this out. What with the NBC edited 911 conversation and the like, there isn’t any point to delve any further.
I have my answer now....thanks.
