Some people say you can’t prepare for every situation. I say, you can because every situation has one common element that can and will hurt you outside of the event itself: other people. Lets face it, if you die in a storm, a nuclear/biological/chemical event, or terror attack, then you are dead. There is nothing from stopping God’s will.
You don’t prepare for those events, you prepare for surviving those events. There are many events, (and not far-fetched crazy extreme events) which people should be prepared to deal with to protect themselves and their families when it’s over and you are alive.

Some of those people have some good ideas. A lot of it is cringe worthy to me.
I’d love a nice large bunker. Can’t bury one down here in Florida though even if I could afford it. A defensive position could come in handy but a good group of friends would be necessary for that as you suggest.
If you go to youtube and search for I’mstillworkin, she did experiment with ways to preserve eggs and that was one of the ways she used. She and katzcradul have great videos.
Reading materials cause that Kindle won’t charge itself.

Good info, thanks. I did a google and it appears mineral oil is suggested. There are many other ways of preserving eggs including using salt, bran, quick lime, charcoal, and a few others.
All seem to revolve around keeping them cool and away from air.
I hunt, fish, garden, pick wild berries and nuts, can or otherwise preserve anything I can get my hands on, grind my own grains, raise livestock, raise bees and harvest honey, etc.
In the next year I will be full into poultry, and have some milk goats. I've got a churn and some things to get into cheese making.
It is hard work, but very rewarding!

Oh, I agree 100%. It's pathetic to see the preppers willing to expose their preparations on national media. Incredibly foolish to make such things public. I haven't been able to watch even one full episode.
I’m not so sure that the preppers show is to ridicule preparedness, rather than show it in a good light. Like the guy that bugs out with his kids, then shoots his own thumb off.

I have started canning butter in jars. It isn't difficult and tastes better. When there is a good sale, I take advantage.

It did. One of the early shows. I haven’t watched a full episode since. It takes about 5 minutes, on average, to show something stupid enough to make me change the channel.
Thats exactly right. Unless you want to be reporting down at the football stadium for your ration card and sticking your kids little arm out for the RFID chip you better have your own stash of food and water to last for 6-12 mos. minimum. Oh and need I add a couple of good weapons and sufficient ammo to protect your supplies from the grasshoppers who don’t have an extra can of chili in the pantry.

If you coat eggs in butter or oil they will last several months.
Oh, and the canned butter will last 3-5 years on the shelf, IF you have a cool, dark place to store it. It needs to be refrigerated if you don’t have someplace cool, but it will last for a very long time and still allows you to save money when there is a good sale.
Don’t coat the eggs and they will keep up to 90 days at 70 degrees temp. Coat in cooking oil and store at temps less than 50 degrees and 18 months is not unheard of. Towards the end of either period check each egg separately before adding to what you are making.
Ask any sailor, who has deployed, about cases of eggs stacked in the passageways.
It is very shelf stable and canning would make it even more so.
