Basically, you melt it and put it in sterilized jars and shake them every 15 minutes or so while they cool. There are lots of sites with instructions if you use a search engine. There is also some info I've downloaded for doing it in a pressure canner, but I haven't done so yet.

Oh, and the canned butter will last 3-5 years on the shelf, IF you have a cool, dark place to store it. It needs to be refrigerated if you don’t have someplace cool, but it will last for a very long time and still allows you to save money when there is a good sale.
