Most reliable ways to donate for quake victims ?
3/13/2011 | Self

I don't want to donate through liberal "non profits" who pocket a major chunk to sustain their bureaucracy. What reliable groups/ organization can I donate to so most of the money goes straight to those in need ? Thanks.

OH Gosh, I can hardly wait.! All the Rappers, bring out the old Hippies ( James Taylor, pick up the white courtesy phone!); oh, and of course, CELEEEEEN DION (uh, that was screeching you heard).

More money raised with NO, can you say ZERO , accountability...but oh, such PR and videos and CD’s!!

BTW, I will now go on record saying I will only watch the concert if Charlie Sheen is the host!

My father thought all charities were ripoffs, but he did have high praise for the Salvation Army. During WW II when he was in Europe, both the Salvation Army and the Red Cross would provide basic necessities for the troops. The difference was that Salvation Army gave those things out for free. Red Cross charged.

One great way to give is through Samaritan’s Purse, Franklin Graham’s Christian Aid ministry that is already at work getting aid to the people of Japan. You can find more information at: www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/articles/pray_for_japan/

Another conduit for aid that I know about personally (a classmate from High School and seminary is one of their workers ON THE GROUND in Japan) is Asian Access. They have also set up a “Japan Tsunami Relief Fund.” Since they are already on the ground and established, their infrastructure and network will be helpful in getting aid to the people. More info at: www.asianaccess.org (click on “Japan Tsunami Relief Fund)

These are Christian agencies, as is Salvation Army. I just know they are reliable. Thanks for giving — pray for the people of Japan....

Your lovin' give me such a thrill,
But your lovin' don't pay my bills;

Now give me money, (that's what I want) that's what I want,
(That's what I want) That's what I want (That's what I want) yeah,
That's what I want.

LOL!!!

Charlie Sheen would be the best, cause he would draw so many viewers and the money would pour in while he is making fun of all the celebs!!

I noticed on my TiVo Box this morning a promotion to send $$$ to the Red Cross to help the quake and tsunami victims by entering a text message.

Those opportunists never want to waste a crisis.

it just begs the question, if I wanted $5.00 to go to help folks in Japan, just how much money would I have to 'donate' to agencies like the Red Cross, just to get the $5.00 there.

Glad to see the topic being discussed here as conservatives are known to be generous givers. We just seem to be more wise on getting our donation into the correct hands.

I am waiting for George Clooney to host another candle lit vigil. Oh, never mind.......

I had the same thought awhile ago while perusing the latest news.

Perhaps I'm too cynical, even mean-spirited in saying this, but my first thought was "insufficiently pigmented and Third world". God forgive me if I'm wrong.

All my charitable donations go to Samaritan’s Purse. Much better than the Red Cross.

From what I understand the following make sure that at least 95 cents of every dollar get to the intended needy:

Samaritan’s Purse
World Relief
Salvation Army
Catholic Charities
Lutheran World Relief

my first thought was "insufficiently pigmented and Third world

You mean 'insufficiently pigmented and NOT third world' ? In Hollywood, helping light skinned first worlders ranks quite low on the compassion scale.
