Nice work, SEIU. Service Employee International Union members descended upon the home of a banker to protest the banker's work. The banker wasn't home but his teenage son was and he was home alone and the 14 bus loads of union thugs scared the heck out of the poor kid.
This was no political protest, it was an inciting, angry mob of union thugs. The Fortune Magazine piece that reported the incident made a salient point about the whole thing.
Targeting homes and families seems to put SEIU in the ranks of (now jailed) radical animal-rights activists and the Kansas anti-gay fundamentalists harassing the grieving parents of a dead 20-year-old soldier at his funeral (the Supreme Court has agreed to weigh in on the latter). But that's not a conversation that SEIU officials want to have.Amusingly, Nina Easton makes another great point in the friendly coverage of this outrageous union thuggery. The Old Media didn't even attend and the whole thing was covered by an activist Huffington Post blogger...

The police were frozen by “big think”. They see a mob and think “our riot police or swat team will just cause the mob to riot.”
All the police needed to do was to send two officers down in one car. One officer sits in the car while the other one calmly and slowly walks up to whoever is in charge and says, “Hi, the gentleman who owns this house just wants to go in and get his son so they can leave. Do you mind not blocking the door for a minute, and we’ll be gone in two shakes of a lambs tail”.
No country wisdom for these modern city cops. Their first and only thought is “swat team” instead of the small peaceful approach.
We are doomed.

To me, this is the biggest story. Thugs you will have with you always. It is the selective, non-coverage of thuggery by the MSM and the harping on every minor detail of the right.
I see a simple solution to this. A contract with Xe Services LLC, to provide “proactive security solutions”.
That is, Xe Services LLC, formerly Blackwater Worldwide, could first gather intelligence as to when one of these SEIU “terror shivarees”.
Then, when the busloads of union thugs show up to terrorize some executive, they are met by a company of riot-police-armored private security contractors.
I’m sure the interesting part of the discussion would revolve around what these private security contractors could do in the face of violent union thugs, attempting to violate the law and intimidate someone.
But I’m equally sure that they would have detailed and effective ROE.
Truly, if the MSM had its complete way, we would live in a fascist country.
