Abolish Mother's Day
Creative Minority Report ^ | 4-8-10 | Matt Archbold

Posted on 05/08/2010 8:56:40 AM PDT by marcbold

On May 9, 1914, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation, declaring the first national Mother's Day. Nearly one hundred years later a brave group of anti-mother activists are standing up against this discriminatory and likely unconstitutional day.

The group expects to file a lawsuit in federal court to prevent national recognition of mothers. Activists opposed to Mother's Day wished to make it clear that they are not anti-mother only anti-Mother's Day but when asked to explain the difference became unclear.

When asked why the country should no longer recognize Mother's Day one man said he never knew his mother and has no knowledge of her and he questioned why the federal government is effectively forcing him to honor his mother who he's not even sure exists.

In fact, the group argues that there are many reasons not to force Americans to honor mothers including doing it for the children. The activists argue that children in schools that have activities or spend time making gifts in art class for mothers are left feeling awkward if they don't have a mother. They also pointed to a small but growing number of Americans who aren't particularly fond of their mothers.

The group also said that this "day-long nationally enforced mother worship" has no precedence in our country's founding documents. "Nowhere are mothers even mentioned in our Founding documents" said one activist. "Why do we all have to pretend to love our mother by order of the federal government?"

If you want a holiday worth celebrating, it’s got to be “April 10th Day”.

Because it is “National Chocolate Overindulgence Day!” (the exclamation point is part of the title.)

Its purpose is not just to eat chocolate, but to OVEREAT chocolate, until its muscle relaxant ingredient, phenylalanine, kicks in, and leaves you unwilling to stand up. For a typical adult, that is about 1 pound of REAL chocolate.

Since eating a pound of chocolate isn’t easy, it is best to mix and match various kinds of chocolate. But not too much other ingredients like fillings, because you don’t want to spoil your appetite.

It’s too late for this year, but be sure to mark it on your calendars for next year.

“April 10th Day”, “National Chocolate Overindulgence Day!”

Though I know some people who struggle on Mother’s Day they just avoid celebrating it.
Being a Mother of 3 children who I love with all my heart, I enjoy the little things about Mother’s Day. A hug, a phone call (from my Marine) is all I need.
I would hope that everyone has an “adopted” mother who they want to acknowledge.

Last year on mother’s day, our young associate priest said Mass and he started his homily with, “Before I give my sermons on Sunday, my mother reads them...this week she said, K___, there is no mention of Mother’s Day. Mom, Mother’s Day is not a feast in the Church. K_____, there is no mention of Mother’s Day.” So, Father K______, thus wished all the mothers Happy Mother’s Day.

The only people I know who struggle with mother’s day are:
1. hate their mother
2. come from a split home and had the competition for attention/affection/acceptance from mother and stepmother
3. were abandoned by the mother, so have no one to look to

But adopting a female relative for that purpose would be healthier than demanding we end the holiday.

This is a great example of malignant narcissism. “I’m offended/saddened/angered so you can’t do ______”. Huh?

What i want for Mother’s Day is to be treated lovingly all year. If I can have that (and I do) then what else is there? :)

Or if you lost your mother on the day itself. We have cousins that fall into that category.

More proof that the father os lies, a murderer from the start is directing the minds of these murderous vermin. Motherhood is the opposite of what this demonic abortion-loving crfowd promotes. They make money by slaughtering alive unborn children, worshipping/serving/promoting the antithesis of motherhood.

My father in law died on Fathers Day.

He was 88. And we looked at it as a blessing. He lived a good life and was tired and ready to go.

So what better day for Dad to do what he wants than Fathers Day?

Hope your cousins can make something positive out of that negative.

When asked why the country should no longer recognize Mother's Day one man said he never knew his mother and has no knowledge of her and he questioned why the federal government is effectively forcing him to honor his mother who he's not even sure exists.

Then how did he get here? Someone had to give birth to this poor creature.

The federal government forcing him? To do what? How can they force him to celebrate Mother's Day if he has no mother to honor? This whole argument that he gave seems convoluted.

So... because even if he's not sure about celebrating Mother's Day, he wants everyone else not celebrate it? Good Grief!

Happy Mother's Day!

The story of how, come to think of it, it was my great-grandmother, died has gotten a lot of mileage. She went to throw back her drink and kept going. This was before my time.

OTOH, we skipped Mother's Day two years on a row due to my own grandmother's death. It was always a big deal as we combined it with her birthday and she died very close to the date. So, we skipped it for a couple years. True mourning will do that.

I’m the same way. I have 4 grown children and 6 grandchildren 10 and under. As long as they call me and wish me Happy Mother’s Day, I don’t need any more than that. My kids are always keeping in touch and are great kids all year ‘round, so Mother’s Day is just a little more special. But I don’t need gifts, just an acknowledgement.

If they want to make some headway, they need to get Obama to make a speech denouncing Hallmark.

Forcing him. (snort!) I see your point. My mom is a piece of work, i avoid her like the plague, but I am a different kind of mother to my boys. Should we cancel Mother’s Day because of my mother’s lacks??? Heaven forbid!

I never needed a “Mother’s Day” or “Father’s Day” to love and honor my parents. Mothers and Fathers Days were just dreamed up by the retail industry to stimulate sales. I don’t want a gift on Mother’s Day. I just want to be with my children that day. That, to me, is the greatest gift.
