There is a debate beginning in Canada over whether or not to uphold a ban on a European car commercial. I would like to know the American perspective.

That one’s been around for a while, but it is pretty funny.. I sure don’t find it offensive..
I'd say the actor playing the part of the terrorist is entirely too light skinned. Maybe get a shorter, darker guy ~ an Arab possibly ~ to play the part.
I LOVE THAT COMMERCIAL.
The PC LIBERALS (U.S. term) would hate it.
The Muslim Community would have CAIR and ACLU file lawsuits against you for Laughing, and thousands of DISSED Muslims would burn down Neighborhoods, as well as Every Volkswagen In a 40 block Radius.
After trying to Convict Mark Steyn for HATE CRIMES, because one of his books exposes the RADICAL that is Islam. I can see CANADA do NO LESS.
I dont think offensive is the word I would use. However, I see absolutely nothing funny about suicide bombers and would qualify this “in bad taste.” I dont think I would want to have to explain this commercial to my 9 year old.
I find it funny, however, you guys north of the boder have that hate speech board, so you’d better not laugh or even mention you’ve seen it.
But then I like dead terrorists. Especially when they are literally hoisted on their on petard.
I don’t find it offensive either.....but then I wouldn’t find it offensive viewing guncam film from an A-10 strafing the snot outta a bunch of muslim ‘pirates’. or I wouldn’t find it off......well, you get the Idea!
I agree. I do, however, love me some Achmed the Dead Terrorist.
Can’t stop LOLOL!!!
Yep, the Canadian Human Rights Commission (talk about a misnomer) has gone after Steyn, Ezra Levant, and other Canucks who dare to exercise free speech.
I expect the obligatory ‘cease and desist’ letter just for having the audacity to post it on my site.
I shudder to see Obama’s America sinking to Canada’s depths....
too funny. offensive to me? hell no. offensive to the general public? probably enough to cause a major backlash if it were to actually air in the states (if they even sold Polos)
Very funny.
And anyway, I appreciate it when a commercial doesn’t take itself too seriously.
True. I got a little backlash from my Canadian compadres when I posted the Fitna vid.
Maybe its the Polo itself that is offensive? lol!
not far away
it’s not a bad little car, it’s just too small for american tastes. now if only congress realized that and eliminated CAFE.
It doesn’t offend me, but I’m a right wing radical!
I think it’s pretty funny, but I can see why it isn’t a good marketing strategy. I like to think that I buy a car for reasons other than its ability to contain a C4 explosion. :) If the networks refused to run this, they may have done a favor for VW, albeit for the wrong reasons.
That has been around for a while...
I think it is hysterical (I drive a VW) but when I saw it, I immediately said... That is NEVER gonna be allowed.
Inept terrorists (or, in this case, a car so “tough” the bomb doesn’t destroy it, only the terrorist): I’m reminded of the pro-conservative David Zucker movie An American Carol. At the beginning some terrorists are attempting to blow up a car
(in an Afghan village). One unlucky dupe has explosives laid on top of him and he’s sent down a hill on a bicycle and
flies off, landing on a car, which explodes along with him.
One terrorist: Hurray! We did it!
Another (Robert Davi): That was MY car, you idiot!
Then we see a terrorist training film, where they show one terrorist who makes sure he has the address right and blows up his target whereas another is all mixed up, and blows
up outside of the “American Disco” he was intending to bomb...
