When I broke the explosive exclusive last June that Obama's COLB (certificate of live birth) was a "horrible forgery," it took a couple of days, but the O-bots sent around this "birth announcement". That too apparently was a forgery.

As to when it was and at what level or if he is right or wrong was the discussion. Then it breaks off into disputes over every aspect of Obama, as usual.

I telephoned the Honolulu Advertiser (the Sunday Advertiser is a part of it) and spoke with someone in commercial sales who said that he placed his daughter's birth announcement in the Advertiser by phone back in 1978.

Although that doesn't prove what was done in 1961, but if you count the numbers of birth ads in the Aug 13, Advertiser, and compare them to the total number of births that occurred during those dates, you will see that they represent only a subset of total births recorded.

And what, exactly, is this thing you call "the COLB?"

All except the fact that the Advertiser also printed birth announcements received by telephone. They did not come exclusively from VR -- especially in 1961.

That link almost looks like a parody site, claiming that everything about Obama, including his mother and sister, are forgeries.

I'm thinking that the site is a smear site, meant to sucker in people who believe that Obama is not natural born, in order to discredit them.

There are real issues regarding Obama's failure to produce any documentary pedigree of his life. This appears to me to be an attempt to discredit those who are pursuing this story.

Thank you!!! That is the first verified info about calling in birth announcements to those papers (or one of them anyway, that's good enough) that I've heard. Great.

Whoa, I did not know they posted Marriage license applications, but why not, my hometown paper did. Mom still has those from both of her sons.

So, someone needs to go look for that for BHO Sr and Stanley Ann. Both in the Honolulu paper and the Maui paper, if there is one. If nothing else the addresses given would be "interesting".

What is being done — by individual Republican-leaning states — to make sure they can’t “pledge” their state electoral votes in 2012... WITHOUT seeing a valid vault-copy birth certificate for the candidate?

We didn’t have time to build that roadblock for 2008, but we have time to build it before 2012.

No, but hospital information does. Which is precisely why Hawaii releases Certificates of Live Birth, and not original birth certificates.

That turns out not to be the case. They issue Certifications of Live Birth, because it's easier and quicker, and thus cheaper. The "Certificate of Live Birth IS the "original birth certificate. The Certification contains less information and only a stamped signature on the back. The Certificate contains original signatures, of a parent, of a witness (usually the doctor or midwife) and optionally of a "local registrar" from the hospital. It also contains the address of the parents, where they were born and their usual occupation.

However, a certified copy of the Certificate requires locating that original certificate, or a microfilm/fiche of it, making a copy, then certifying that copy. The Certification is generated from a computer database, with only a limited subset of the information. It only takes few keystrokes to generate, the application of the seal and the stamp on the back.
