Horus is perched on my lap, purring softly and enjoying having his ears rubbed. He is feeling smug, having just won a face-off with Henry. They do that occasionallyjust stand a few paces apart and stare at each other. This time, Henry was in his kennel; and Horus sat a few feet away, watching Henry. Henry gave several woofs of defeat, refusing to come out of his kennel while Horus sat so close. Henry shows weakness, and Horus takes advantage a feline/canine lesson for the humans running our national security apparatus.
Meanwhile, I notice Tiger trying to eat the blueberry waffles I made for breakfast. That cat is some kind of eating superhero. While every calorie Horus ingests lingers heavily in his belly, Tiger remains svelte and sleek. Well, as sleek as a fuzzy American domestic shorthair can be. He has wisely eschewed venturing outdoors with a foot of snow on the ground. We tossed him outside for our amusement yesterday; only the tip of his tail showed above the snow.
Henry finally had a bath last night. What is it about dogs that they smell so bad when they go bathless for a few weeks, yet cats always smell and feel so clean? It cant be the cats bathing themselves; its not like their tongues are soapy. If we licked ourselves constantly, wed smell like morning breath all the time.

Two dogs, two cats, here. Most days a Peaceable Kingdom, though the cats will mix it up with each other on occasion. ;)
My two cats and two dogs live together in harmony and affection for each other. The cats sometimes sleep on the dog beds. One time one of the cats was sleeping with one of the dogs and the cat began ‘kneading’. The dog jumped straight up into the air with a yelp. It was hilarious! the dog went back to sleep as the cat jumped up and ran.
I know when it’s time to clean our dog’s ears because the catz will sneak up while she’s sleeping, sniff her head, and say, “Meh!”
He even has cat friends in the neighborhood. We had talked about getting another cat so he would have someone to play with.
While in Virginia a few months ago, the wife and kids found an emaciated kitten trying to eat a plastic straw at a movie theatre. His name is now Oliver, and he's a beautiful huge orange tabby.
Shiloh hates him! I mean, really HATES him. He growls, hisses, and swats at the other cat whenever they are in the same room. This totally backfired.
These are both neutered males, but Oliver wasn't neutered when we got him. I wonder if that has something to do with it. Any feline lovers have any advice?
That is precious. What a great pic.
We have 13 cats, and sometimes they do not get along. We have a time-out room that we put the offender in when we are not home. We let them out when we are home.
It took one female several months in the time-out room to calm down, but she finally has. Then, I had another who went into a snit when I rescued another cat. He spent a week in time-out.
For the most part, I think our time-out room has helped a lot. Most of my rescues are as kittens that show up on my deck for something to eat.
Perhaps Shiloh thinks he is a dog???
He is 3 now, but very much like a baby. My cocker spaniel female adopted him and mothered him as a kitten, and even now.
FYI If I were you I’d get a mod to DC that link. You can scan through all the pictures you have and that’s NOT a good idea.
