The man who predicted the 1987 stock market crash and the fall of the Soviet Union is now forecasting revolution in America, food riots and tax rebellions - all within four years, while cautioning that putting food on the table will be a more pressing concern than buying Christmas gifts by 2012.
Gerald Celente, the CEO of Trends Research Institute, is renowned for his accuracy in predicting fut ure world and economic events, which will send a chill down your spine considering what he told Fox News this week.
Celente says that by 2012 America will become an undeveloped nation, that there will be a revolution marked by food riots, squatter rebellions, tax revolts and job marches, and that holidays will be more about obtaining food, not gifts.
"We're going to see the end of the retail Christmas....we're going to see a fundamental shift take place....putting food on the table is going to be more important that putting gifts under the Christmas tree," said Celente, adding that the situation would be "worse than the great depression".
"America's going to go through a transition the likes of which no one is prepared for," said Celente, noting that people's refusal to acknowledge that America was even in a recession highlights how big a problem denial is in being ready for the true scale of the crisis.
Celente, who successfully predicted the 1997 Asian Currency Crisis, the subprime mortgage collapse and the massive devaluation of the U.S. dollar, told UPI in November last year that the following year would be known as "The Panic of 2008," adding that "giants (would) tumble to their deaths," which is exactly what we have witnessed with the collapse of Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns and others. He also said that the dollar would eventually be devalued by as much as 90 per cent.
The consequence of what we have seen unfold this year would lead to a lowering in living standards, Celente predicted a year ago, which is also being borne out by plummeting retail sales figures.
The prospect of revolution was a concept echoed by a British Ministry of Defence report last year, which predicted that within 30 years, the growing gap between the super rich and the middle class, along with an urban underclass threatening social order would mean, "The world's middle classes might unite, using access to knowledge, resources and skills to shape transnational processes in their own class interest," and that, "The middle classes could become a revolutionary class."
In a separate recent interview, Celente went further on the subject of revolution in America.
"There will be a revolution in this country," he said. "Its not going to come yet, but its going to come down the line and were going to see a third party and this was the catalyst for it: the takeover of Washington, D. C., in broad daylight by Wall Street in this bloodless coup. And it will happen as conditions continue to worsen."
"The first thing to do is organize with tax revolts. Thats going to be the big one because people cant afford to pay more school tax, property tax, any kind of tax. Youre going to start seeing those kinds of protests start to develop."
"Its going to be very bleak. Very sad. And there is going to be a lot of homeless, the likes of which we have never seen before. Tent cities are already sprouting up around the country and were going to see many more."
"Were going to start seeing huge areas of vacant real estate and squatters living in them as well. Its going to be a picture the likes of which Americans are not going to be used to. Its going to come as a shock and with it, theres going to be a lot of crime. And the crime is going to be a lot worse than it was before because in the last 1929 Depression, peoples minds werent wrecked on all these modern drugs over-the-counter drugs, or crystal meth or whatever it might be. So, you have a huge underclass of very desperate people with their minds chemically blown beyond anybodys comprehension."

So there you have it - hardly a nutjob conspiracy theorist blowhard now is he? The price of not heeding his warnings will be far greater than the cost of preparing for the future now. Storable food and gold are two good places to make a start.
“stories about the homeless become more popular with the media when a Republican is in the White House.”
Yes, I remember that, I actually say quantitative evidence/charts showing that very clearly once. The vast majority of journalists are registered democrats.
I agree you cant eat a gold coin, but there is a market for it...and if paper money loses value, it would only make gold more in demand, no?
Looking at your list, there are a few inexpensive additions you might want to consider:
Canned pumpkin for Vitamin A.
Seaweed (Walmart has cheap seaweed sheets.)
Garlic powder and other herbs would add various health benefits to your diet.
Vitamin C crystals.
Water.
Brandy fruit cake. (Never underestimate the value of good, dark fruit cake preserved with brandy.)
So you think that the number of homeless will be reported on once O is inaugurated?
Why Seaweed?
Im not afraid. Our revolution will include dropping most of the functions of Big Government. The state wont need as much money.””
I am with you. Local is always cheaper than sending dollars for redistribution and spending to some federal agency which spends 70% of tax dollars on self-maintenance. Durasell, as usual you have it backwards.
Buying gold and platinum 1-oz coins is easy. Just get off the duff and ask your jeweler for his source. I bought my gold at $300/oz years ago.
That is to say, states like NY, CA and CT will no longer be supporting states like Arkansas, Alabama and Mississippi.””
So this is why CA is asking for billions in bailout funds from Washington?? Where do you get you ideas— Hollywood and San Fransicko? Did you also forget the bailout of NY City?? I’m guessing you are a prop 8 issue guy.
For many people, his predictions are “wishful thinking.”
I do not want to see America tank. I don’t hear any economic/financial types saying the same thing, and they have their money on the line. This guy can predict all he wants, and does not lose a penny if he is wrong. He also is not making any kind of religious prophecy, so his fans might still accept him when he turns out to be wrong.
I he is right, than the ones that will weather the storm the best are those living in the country, far away from urban chaos. In other words, conservatives.
“he mentions tent cities existingI have never seen a tent city in the US...has anyone else.”
Yep. I’ve seen them in Southern California.
That list isn’t complete at all, but I hear ya.
I predict that lots of American folks will want to do those low-skilled, poorly-paying jobs when they need to fill their tummy and have no other option. This creates a conflict, and our government has already picked sides on the issue: NOT OURS.
Also, Affirmative Action: When times get real tough the populace will have no more patience for quotas and racial set-asides. Would you be willing to allow a lesser-qualified person get the job you want, nay, NEED? Would you willingly allow your kids to starve due to the color of their skin? I wouldn't.
I bring up those two points because I see a simmering anger in the populace right now regarding these topics, and would assume it would get worse with our coming hard times.
Here's a list of relative tax burdens, based on how much a state pays into the Federal treasury versus what it gets back.
You'll notice that the "red" states typically get more money back from the Federal treasury than they put in, while "blue" states tend to be the ones doing the subsidizing. New Jerseyites get shafted the worst, while Mississippians make out like bandits.
I live where there is arable land. You can’t control weather, which influences harvest quality and quantity. You need inputs of diesel and fertilizer to grow more than enough for yourself and to dry it, in the case of corn, after harvest. You need to buy seed, which is perishable. You need roads and bridges, not to mention tires and fuel and materials for truck maintenance and repair to get it to the cities. You need security on the roads if people are going to transport anything.
Then, once it gets to the city, what if the price is beyond the reach of most? Then you have rationing. That would set off panics and riots. Where do you store it until it can be distributed? Who provides what level of security? How do you keep the hordes from finding ways to travel out to the nearest farms and taking what they want? How many farms are situated in defensible terrain? What size gang of looters can a landowner hold off?
Lots of considerations and things could play out much differently than anyone can imagine.
I need to get more of the 18 gallon rubbermade containers.
ALready have 80-100 gallons of water stored, most potable. Anytime I empty a plastic container from something (detergent, gatorade, anything), I rinse it good and fill it.
“It is best a warrior be free and not responsible for groups” - Wu Ch’u. ~2500 years ago. Read the classics from China.
When push comes to shove the one ounce of lead in a shotgun slug is easily going to trump the ounce of gold in one’s pocket.
“Huh? Is all our plumbing, roads, bridges, etc. going to disappear? “
It can. Those infrastructures require a massive amount of repair and replacement. Under Democrats they are rarely funded. Under Obama there won’t be any money for those things not going directly into someone’s pocket where they can see the spending. He and his fellow Marxist will buy votes and infrastructure spending doesn’t result in that.
You will note that most of the food is grown in the red states. Agriculture is far and away the nations #1 industry.
“Huh??? I wasnt aware you could possess bricks of gold.”
Why not? You can buy gold and silver in any quantity that you like. Large amounts of silver and gold are usually purchased in 10, 100, and 1,000 ounce bars.
